Fire hydrant. Fire hydrant. Types of fire hydrants

The fire hydrant valve refers to the fittings of fire equipment, which are installed in internal fire water supply systems and are an integral part of water fire extinguishing on site at an operating pressure of 1.6 MPa. One of the types of internal fire hydrant valve based on the material of manufacture is brass, hence the designation of the fire hydrant by brand (L).

These valves have different kind for installation: angular 125° KPL, KPLM and 90°, as well as straight fire dampers type 15BZR.

What is a fire hydrant

A fire hydrant is usually considered to be the simplest fire equipment, effective in the early stages of extinguishing fires. GOST for internal PCs prescribes installation of the unit in the following types of buildings:

Fire hydrant valves. Material - cast iron

The fire hydrant valve refers to the fittings of fire equipment, which are installed in internal fire water supply systems and are an integral part of water fire extinguishing on site at an operating pressure of 1.6 MPa. One of the types of internal fire hydrant valve based on the material of manufacture is cast iron, an alloy of iron and carbon, which gives high reliability in the operation of fire extinguishing systems, as well as the material is stainless and non-corrosive, hence the designation of the fire hydrant with the brand (C).

The valves are also classified according to the type of installation of the fire hydrant to the pipeline and have a coupling or pin thread (internal, external). The design of the fire hydrant is different, so when installing a cabinet for a fire hydrant, the internal water supply pipe does not always have convenient location, therefore, all valves have a different type (configuration) for installation: angular 125 0 KPC and 90 0 KPC.

Fire hydrants are checked at least twice a year: checking functionality, operating pressure, gland seal.

A fire extinguishing kit installed on a water main is called a fire hydrant. The installation includes not only shut-off valves, but also a fire hose, barrel and box. The PPB requirements stipulate the standards and requirements that fire hydrants, their placement and equipment must comply with.

What is a fire hydrant

A fire hydrant is usually considered to be the simplest fire equipment, effective in the early stages of extinguishing fires. GOST for internal PCs prescribes the installation of the unit in the following types of buildings.

A fire hydrant is a mandatory element of a fire hydrant. Most often made of cast iron, brass or bronze. This material can easily cope with water temperatures up to +50 degrees and pressures up to 1.6 MPa.

Fire hydrant heads allow you to maintain the required tightness and easily connect fire hoses to the hydrant.

There are angle and straight-through valves, depending on the configuration of the pipeline corners. The design is adjusted manually.

The most popular type of faucet is the brass fire faucet DN50, DN65, the price of which in the Fire Store always remains affordable. The frequent use of these models is due to the fact that they are ideal for installation and operation in large enterprises, and are also compatible with almost any piping in modern buildings.

To adjust the pressure and smoothly shut off the flow of water, you will need a fire hydrant flywheel. The valve can have both internal and external threads. The choice of a suitable nut will depend on this. For external threads you will need a socket type nut, and for internal threads a pin nut.

For those who do not want to select additional parts for the faucet, we recommend paying attention to the fire hydrant included, the price of which will be slightly higher, but you will receive a ready-made fire-fighting kit that only needs to be connected to the pipeline.

At the Fireman's Store you will also find:

  • A fire hydrant is a household control panel, the price of which includes a shut-off device. This is an excellent solution for extinguishing fires in apartments, cottages and outbuildings. The design is easily connected to the water supply network and activated,
  • An internal fire hydrant, which is most often located in fire cabinets at an enterprise along with a fire hose and barrel. All parts are quickly assembled and with one sharp turn of the valve a stream of water is supplied, the pressure of which is also easy to control,
  • Valve for fire hydrant diameter 50 mm or other sizes. Can be installed both vertically and horizontally. Regulates the flow of water and shuts off the supply when extinguishing a fire,
  • Fire nozzle, nuts, couplings, hoses and other components.

If you need a 50 mm firefighting valve, the price in the store does not include delivery. Its cost will depend on your distance from our warehouse. Please note that you can also use self-pickup by visiting us at the address indicated on the website.

Fire hydrants can be purchased in any size. We are constantly replenishing the quantity of goods in our warehouse and are ready to accept even large orders.

In the event of a fire (ignition), even before the fire service arrives, you must try to minimize its area, preventing the fire from spreading and engulfing nearby objects. Primary fire extinguishing means are well suited for this purpose, one of which is a fire hydrant mounted indoors different types. One of the main conditions for installing a fire hydrant is the presence of an internal fire water supply system with water supplied through it. If the premises do not have an internal fire water supply, then a fire hydrant should be located next to such a building, to which the fire hoses will be connected. If there is no fire hydrant nearby, then there must be an open source of water from which water will be drawn to contain the fire.

Types of fire hydrants

Fire hydrants are among the means shut-off valves and there are:

1. Butterfly valves
2. Gate valves
3. Shutter valves

. Feature butterfly valve is a special disk that can shut off the water, regulating its flow and pressure. Thanks to the presence of a lock, the shutter can be fixed at your discretion, thereby more accurately adjusting the water pressure. This type of fire hydrant is made of cast iron, which significantly increases its strength and service life.

. Feature gate valve is the presence of fittings, the shutter part of which moves along the axis of water movement. The gate valve has 2 states: open or closed. An open position indicates free flow of water, and a closed position indicates that access to water is blocked. This valve does not have the function of regulating water pressure. The shutter valve provides water supply to the fire hose as quickly as possible, because does not require additional effort. It is this type of valve that is often preferred for use in fire hydrants, because it has the ability to function in the event of a drop in water pressure. The gate valve body can be made of different materials, depending on where it is used. Possible materials of manufacture: bronze, cast iron, steel, nickel-based alloys.

. Feature shutter valve is additional opportunity regulation of water pressure. Using this valve, you can not only completely open or close the passage of water, but also, at your discretion, limit its flow by reducing the pressure.

Gate valves and gate valves can be made in different designs: angle, straight-through and straight-through.

A fire hydrant valve is an element of shut-off valves, which, along with a hose and a hydrant, constitutes a system designed to extinguish fires. The devices in question make it possible to supply water and/or a special extinguishing mixture directly to the fire site. Thus, no fire protection system can operate effectively without high-quality shut-off valves, which includes a fire hydrant valve.

Features and types

The fire valve is part of a valve installed on the internal water supply system and is designed to extinguish fires. Moreover, it is designed to work with liquid or gas, the temperature of which can reach 50 °C.

The fire valve is structurally no different from its conventional counterparts. The difference lies in the material and diameter. Its design includes a bushing and flywheel, head housing and packing, insulation, valve, stem threads and gasket.

The devices under consideration are divided into:

  • According to the material of manufacture - brass and cast iron;
  • Internal diameter - 50 and 65 mm;
  • By type of installation - wall and duct;
  • According to the function performed - shut-off and regulating, shut-off, special;
  • According to the design of the body - straight-through, corner and through;
  • According to the type of connection - coupling / pin or coupling / coupling.

In the latter case, the pin is designed to connect a fire hose with a fire hose.

Requirements for fire hydrant valves

Despite such a variety of design options, fire hydrant valves are highly reliable. At the same time, the following requirements are imposed on them.

  1. Absolute tightness.
  2. Working pressure not less than 1 MPa.
  3. The number of revolutions before opening is 4-6.
  4. Right rotation of the flywheel.
  5. Maximum liquid temperature 50 °C.
  6. Nominal passage from 40 to 65 millimeters.
  7. Mandatory 12-hour pressure testing.

Fulfillment of these requirements guarantees the fastest possible start-up of the entire system in extreme fire conditions, and uninterrupted, reliable operation of the equipment. In addition, the use of brass and cast iron provides the device with a long service life, along with anti-corrosion and resistance to high pressure.

Marking

The properties of a fire hydrant are displayed in digital, alphabetic and symbolic designations, which are applied to the body by casting. This should display:

  • trademark;
  • year of manufacture;
  • body material;
  • nominal pressure;
  • direction of water/gas supply;
  • gasket designation for flange seal.

All these values are applied in accordance with the requirements of regulatory documentation. In addition, the product is marked by painting the body. So, the color indicates the material from which the case is made.
