What flowers are suitable for a balcony. What flowers to plant on a balcony on the sunny side, their names

Almost each of us grows home flowers, but no matter how beautiful they are, in the summer we want something else. As the weather warms up, summer residents rush to their plots and plant flower beds there, but you can also decorate your balcony. There may be flowers in boxes on the balcony, they can hang beautifully from hanging flowerpots, they can decorate the windows outside. And of course, I want these flowers to bloom as long as possible. Leaders among flowering plants we'll look at it today.

Garden flowers will be planted in the fall - Roseanne bites. Last but not least, one of the most popular flowers, chrysanthemums, a convenient option that rewards us with special colors and scents. Chrysanthemums resist stoicism in very cold temperatures, leaving a splash of color in a garden that has already been exposed to the first broom.

Garden flowers will be planted in the fall - chrysanthemums. These flowers are the most common, but interesting compositions can be created together by arranging blooming flowers and decorative leaves. For example, yarrow with pelargonium, fuchsia with trawl.

Flowers for the balcony all summer

Advice!

To make the loggia look truly beautiful, it is best to give preference to hanging plant species, those that do not grow tall. You also need to choose varieties that have a pleasant, subtle aroma to fill summer days with wonderful memories.

To begin with, it is worth noting the following point - if your balcony is located on the south side, then often the flowers cannot tolerate too bright, hot sun, which affects their flowering. For northern sides, you can select special plants that love shade and coolness. Most better option- this is, of course, the east and southeast.

It's worth looking at the market for more herbs and finding less common fluctuating plants: lantana, rhubarb begonias, bacon, lobelia, sciveol and sanvitalia. Some of them don't even have Lithuanian names, called Latin ones, but knowing what you need to find it possible.

Terraces and balconies allow you to grow plants that bloom beautifully, as a rule, only in flower beds. These are large-flowered and always blooming begonias, pelargoniums, petunias, lobelias, twigs, daisies, serencia, annuals for sage and even ferns, witches, etc.

In addition, trays or flowers, containers or large pots should be saturated with current flowers only. Arrangements will be more colorful, more vibrant and pleasing with a wider variety of plants. Together, planting different crops should take into account their color and height. In addition, the compositions must match the color and texture of the house's walls, window sills, balconies, shapes or structures, paving, existing or desired space to create. Somewhere, of course, trays or arrangements are made from flowering flowers.

It is also worth noting that in summer the soil dries out very quickly in closed containers, so always water the plants on time. So, now it’s time to list which flowers to plant on the balcony so that they bloom all summer.

Petunia

It can be called one of the most popular plants last years. Without this flower it is impossible to imagine a dacha, city flower beds, great option and for the balcony. The fact is that petunia takes root very well in a new place after transplantation. It can bloom right up to frost. She doesn’t need any complicated care, just watering. If you plant petunia seedlings back in February, the balcony will be blinded by the color of petunias already in May.

Depending on our desires and the environment we create. Of course, the harmony of eyes and soul should prevail everywhere - we see and feel it. Here we feel more relaxed, relaxed, pleasant. Hull and soil mixtures. We attach wooden or plastic cabinets inside or outside the balcony. Otherwise, we risk getting a fine if our flower blooms or, God forbid, hits us on the head.

It is very important to choose a mixture of soil - it should be fertile, fluffy, conductive to water. Suitable for peat substrate or a mixture of soil with complex fertilizers and microelements for outdoor flowers. This mixture is cleaner, drains water better than loamy soil, and the moisture from the peat does not disappear from it as quickly as from peat. There is no need to fill the trays with soil; you can place pots of flowers on them. Although it is better for plants to be planted on the ground: in a box the soil does not dry out as quickly, the plants grow more difficult and look more beautiful.

To make your balcony flower beds look truly beautiful, choose terry, hanging varieties of different shades.

Primroses

You can admire crocuses, tulips, and hyacinths with the first rays of spring. Of course, we are used to them growing in the country. But you can also plant them on the balcony in separate pots or in a common container, where other flowers will then be planted. Yes, primroses fade quickly, but if you combine these flowers with other plants with different flowering periods, then your balcony will delight you from the first days of spring until autumn.

Plants in a bowl with flowers, the growing conditions of which are the same or very similar. Look where the balcony is on the side of the house. Higher planting in the center of the tray or to the side of the wall. Sun well-loved and exquisite, petunia, verbena, lac, diasia, portuguese, scuoli and pelargonium grow well in a sunny location.

An east-facing balcony or terrace receives softer morning sun. On this side you can hang a basket made of natural fibers and large hanging pots with uniform flowers or their compositions. A shaded location is ideal for them because a small amount of soil in a container does not dry out as quickly as in a sunny location.

Purslane

What could be simpler than scattering purslane seeds on the ground. These flowers delight with their unpretentiousness, because they can grow even in the most unfavorable places by self-seeding. Purslane blooms all summer, hanging beautifully from flowerpots, and its flowers have different shades.

Sun-like plants on the east side grow well and require less water on the south side - so have your pick. On the eastern side, plants will grow and creep well, since the sun will not grow leaves. From such balconies and terraces there is a creeping trawl, slippery thyme. They love morning sun and grow more ridiculously than on the south side.

The evening side of the house and the balcony are usually open to the wind. Securely anchor hanging baskets and balconies and select hard crops: bush and pulsating pelargoniums, tiger shades, broth, skewers, sage and others. By the way, it is resistant to wind and sun, is least damaged by rain and is suitable for growing my favorite pelargonium in the shade. They bring up all the problems.

Advice!

To create a real flower paradise on your balcony, you can put it on it for the summer indoor plants, which will merge into the overall composition. Lianas that can be entwined around vertical supports will fit perfectly.

Pelargonium

Like petunia, it loves light very much. Therefore, for those who have a balcony in the south, this is an excellent option. But under balcony conditions, the plant quickly begins to lose moisture from the soil and needs watering daily. Otherwise, the flower will quickly die.

On the balcony or terrace on this side, especially if trees growing nearby or next to the house cover the straight sunlight, the conditions are much milder compared to the direct passage on the south balcony. By the way, the southern balcony, if it is blocked by someone, can also be in the shade. In this case, you can choose plants that grow in shade or partial shade. These are twigs, lobelia, sage, shrimp, pelargonium.

Springs do not suffer from direct sunlight, which is insurmountable to drought, and have plenty of watering in the shade. All container-grown crops need to be watered frequently. The north side is almost always in the shade. For this site, plants must be carefully selected and sourced accordingly.

Marigold

Another flower that can decorate not only the flower beds at our dacha, but also the balcony. For closed ground, it is better to choose low-growing varieties. Terry and ordinary marigolds will look great in combination. They require no care other than watering and bloom all summer. Diseases do not affect them.

Lobelia

A wonderful plant, although very capricious. Not everyone succeeds in growing lobelia seedlings. But if you succeeded or you bought an ampel type, then be sure that the appearance of your balcony will not leave anyone indifferent. Lobelia looks great in hanging flowerpots. It can grow there alone or in a composition. Loves south exposure and lots of sunshine.

On this side, less moisture evaporates from the soil cells, so they are quite long - they need to be watered and fertilized more often. But the bad thing is that plant moisture is still high for a long time, and there is a danger that plant roots will disappear from its excess. Therefore, the most efficient waste of excess water is selected. But first of all, such a container must have very good drainage.

Do not squeeze flower arrangements on tree branches, as well as pots, chariots, bears and other objects with flowing flowers, do not stand on the green lawn - oil. Eventually, the flowers were dipped into a bowl and grown to support lawns where there was no greenery. Therefore, place pots or baskets only where there is no greenery, no grass: on the floor of the terrace, stones and similar places. If you do not have a terrace or balcony, it is better to plant a flower in a flower garden, rather than torture it in some kind of pot.

Convolvulus

A simple and familiar bindweed for all summer residents. Whatever option for the balcony. Absolutely unpretentious, easy to sow. Does not require excessive watering. But with very dry soil, its leaves become smaller, and then decorative look the plant will be worse off. Bindweed is capable of entwining any support.

For those who have settled on balconies, it seems that on their enclosed balcony none of the beautifully blooming or flowing flowers will absorb the heat of the sun - just cacti. Bukauskene, this season - a fashionable balcony for growing aromatic flowers. One of the most popular are the royal pelarchon flowers, which bloom with large flowers. Their scents are not only flowers, but leaflets are especially pleasant scents. Reduced and native pelargoniums, whose fragrant flowers look like orphans, are blooming more and more often in balcony trays.

Polyantha roses

For those who cannot imagine their life without roses, this is the most suitable option. They love the sunny side, watering and fertilizing as they dry out. Well, with roses, your balcony will be the most luxurious, spectacular and catchy. It is better to plant several bushes. The flowering period is long.

Royal begonias are often grown on balconies. Their flowers are large, bright, looking like roses from afar. When you are above the second or third floor, it is worth choosing climbing plants: colorful witches, yellowtail tuffs, funny flowers with flowers, pleasantly fragrant flowers. They can be grown vertically upward, so it is suitable for walls that block the view of neighbors or hide an unpleasant view.

“When growing plants grow on a leash, their cascades look impressive from below,” says Lina Bukauskienė. Each season presents new surprises, seeking out unexpected plant combinations. Increasingly, annual flowers are combined with ornamental shrubs or trees. When vaccinated forms are planted in pots, the bottom is empty. Suitable for filling annual flowers.

Verbena

You can plant fragrant verbena on the balcony. These plants are distinguished by delicate small flowers. They don’t demand special attention in terms of care. Flower seedlings take a long time to grow, so in order for plants to bloom earlier, it is best to sow verbena in February-March. Has a wide variety of types and shades.

Despite the new winds of fashion, flowers that have been grown for many years stand the test of time. One of my favorites is surf and petunia, and they are varied by widows and summer lawyers. In public places, most suitable for a lively, classic color combination. The beautiful red or crimson flowers appear bright green. Background plants creep and sparkle tightly. On the balcony of a private house there are more frequent combinations of bright colors.

It is important to consider the color of the facade of the house. It is better to choose contrasting colors. If the walls are gray, light ones are suitable, bright flowers. Elderly people grow nostalgic flowers for kindergartens. For example, tranquility blooms beautifully all summer and is therefore very popular. Although many new varieties have been produced, growers are reluctant to abandon the old ones. They may not be as impressive, but you can fit in well with other plants, says the gardening expert.

Godetia

One more plant can be recommended when answering the question of what flowers to plant on the balcony. Excellent flowers, which are often used together with petunias to decorate flower beds and balconies. They have delicate shades of petals and love sun and moisture. A combination of several types of godetia and petunia is enough to make a balcony beautiful.

Bukauskiene warns - do not make serious mistakes when planting and observing summer flower balconies. First of all, let's look at the growth conditions. Flower plants should be planted on the north, east or west side of the house. It's not all about growing for yourself, or buying and planting flowers. The most important thing is their concern. Creating beautiful tanks is not so easy, it’s a lot of work,” says the company manager.

The main problem is what to do to prevent flowers from falling during the holidays. If you don't want to lose your expensive flowers within a few weeks, get a special pillow with a water tank bottom. The flowers that grow in this box do not need daily care.

Nasturtiums

As an option for northern balconies. She does not need bright sunlight, but requires constant feeding, then the flower will bloom profusely throughout the summer. Nasturtiums are often planted in the country; this option is also suitable for closed type growing.

When filling the tank, the water level meter shows how much is in the water tank. If the plants are planted in pots that stand on the terrace, mix the substrate with special moisture-absorbing gels. They slowly release moisture, protecting plants from drying out.

When you leave your vacation, don't forget the factory fertilizer. It is best to use long-dissolving granules. By inserting them into the roots of plants, you can forget about fertilizer for a long time. In summer, heavy downpours are blown away on balconies, hail is destroyed, and strong winds fall. “If the terrace is not protected from drafts, it is better to choose more stable plants,” advises the afforestation specialist. In this regard, pelargoniums are the most patient and strong.

A balcony beautifully decorated with flowers in our cities is still, unfortunately, the exception and not the rule. You can refer to the climatic features of most regions of the country. Or argue that the culture of flower decoration on balconies is not typical for us and that it is more common for us to grow on balconies green onions and other garden greens. That in the Soviet era, every citizen had to participate in the construction of a “garden city”, and not engage in petty-bourgeois cultivation of flowers on his personal balcony, and even for unknown purposes. And we turned this page in the history of the country just a quarter of a century ago. But how nice it is to lift your head and admire from the street the floral oases on the balconies of standard buildings! And be glad that up there, someone not only decorated the balcony for themselves, but also gives this beauty to everyone around them.

Quite strong and rigid fusions, the mast of which is made of wood. Unfortunately, their rings suffer from rain or strong winds, and it takes time to decorate the plants. Their stems break from heavy rains, blows and gusts of wind. In Bukauskien, open fields are best for growing pelargoniums. Although I don't like direct sunlight either. The lights are sufficient in the morning and evening, and it is best to avoid bright sunlight.

Landscaped balconies and terraces are worth the fact that plants not only decorate environment, buildings, but also clean the air. Well, having a flower on your balcony will make you feel right at home in your backyard - here you can enjoy the beautiful colors and scents of tea or coffee with your friends. To ensure that the landing process is not upset, your attention is a lot useful tips. So read, smile and hurry to choose a flower. May is the busiest planting season.

Where to start?

As in any business, floriculture has its own professional secrets. What flowers to choose for the flower garden? What composition should I create for the winter garden? What colors should you choose to decorate a south-facing balcony?

Start with landscaping the “balcony area”. This may be cosmetic repairs, which will be limited only to painting the railings and replacing the flooring. It will not be possible to paint the walls, so we advise you to choose flowers in shades that will not blend in with the color of the walls.

Then we advise you to decide how much area on the balcony you will allocate for flowers. Do you give everything to a flower garden or leave part of the area for household needs or a recreation area? We do not take into account the boxes attached to the outside of the balcony railing - they take up space. Do you want to grow flowers just for yourself or will you try to decorate your balcony so that all passers-by can admire your successes?

Very important! The permissible load must not be exceeded balcony slab. You need to be especially careful when decorating flower beds on old balconies. Therefore, do not chase the number of pots and boxes with flowers, especially since by arranging them in large numbers, you will not be able to create a beautiful flower arrangement.

When you answer these questions for yourself, it will be the turn of geometry. Not a subject from the program high school, and the geometry of the arrangement of flower boxes, containers, pots and flowerpots. When decorating a balcony with flowers, we advise you to follow the well-known rules:

To plant flowers, use all possibilities: boxes, pots, flowerpots. Containers are selected so that the flowers have enough space and soil.

Lightweight but durable plastic boxes are best used for placement on the outside of the balcony railing. It is recommended not to plant flowers in one long box - when watering, the weight of the structure will increase and the fastening may not be able to cope. In such cases, several relatively small boxes up to one meter long are used.

It is believed that plants “live” more comfortably in clay boxes, flowers can “breathe” in them, and moisture is retained longer. But such boxes have significant weight, and it is better to use them for floor placement.

Advice. Before using new clay boxes, place them in water for about two hours. This is an old method of forcing air bubbles out of clay to make the box more durable.

Buy only boxes with small holes in the bottom. This way, excess moisture will not accumulate in them.

The best option is to use boxes with pallets. “Extra” water will leave the box, accumulate on the tray and create a greenhouse effect in the sun. And it won't leak down. It’s unpleasant, instead of words of admiration, to hear from passers-by, on whom water is dripping from your boxes, something offensive: “They hung it here!”

Great for flower gardens. They must be attached to the ceiling or from the inside of the balcony. Pots secured from the outside may be damaged by gusts of wind.

Feel free to buy durable boxes and pots in the most inexpressive colors. They must have the main quality - strength. You can decorate them with your own hands in any style you like.

It is very important to choose the right soil for flowers. The soil can be purchased at the store or made yourself. To do this, coarse sand, turf layer of earth and humus (peat) are used in equal proportions. A layer made of an elastic dishwashing napkin or a piece of rug is placed in the flower box, which can accumulate water and then gradually release it into the ground. Then we pour a layer of sand - this is drainage, a layer of peat, and on top we pour turf soil from which the weeds have been removed.

The soil level should be a couple of centimeters below the edge of the box. If you poured too much soil, the water will wash it away when watering.

Important! Every year, before planting flowers, you need to remove the top layer and replace it with a fresh one. Fertilizers are applied only after replacing the top layer of soil. Try to use long-lasting fertilizers. Check with seed sellers for the order of applying fertilizer.

Choosing flowers

The most important part of preparing to create a flower garden. Immediately pay attention to the height of the plants - it is indicated on the packages. Otherwise, tall and powerful plants will “strangle” the weaker ones. There's nothing you can do, it's a struggle for survival.

Do not try to put many seeds in one box in the soil. When they grow up they will grow up, but frail and weak. In a meter box it is optimal to plant up to 10 flowers in two rows. True, you need to consider what kind of flowers you are planting. You can combine and plant one row of flowing ones, and choose taller plants for the second.

Considering the height of the flowers, we must not forget about the color combination. Excessive diversity of the flower garden will not decorate your balcony. Check out these possible combinations:

Choose color combinations that you like, without losing sight of the difference in the flowering time of plants. With time and experience, you will learn how to make flower arrangements that change throughout the season, such as tulips with crocuses and daffodils,

which are replaced by begonias.

After planting flowers in boxes and pots, do not rush to send them to the balcony under direct sun rays. Most flowers don’t really like sunbathing, and besides, you need to give them time to get stronger first. And for this purpose, let them stand in the shade for a while. And you should water the flowers early in the morning or after sunset, when the heat subsides.

Flowers for a balcony facing the sunny side

For a flower garden on a sunny balcony, sun-loving daisies are perfect,

calendula.

They love the sun: purslane, morning glory, mignonette, heliotrope (the name speaks for itself!), sweet peas, and decorative beans.

Plant viola (Pansy) in early May

and daisies, and your flower garden on the balcony will delight you with early flowering.

Agapanthus africa

and Indian canna, planted in large beautiful pots, will decorate your flower garden on a sunny balcony.

Flowers for a shaded balcony

For a flower garden on a shaded balcony, choose fuchsia,

cloves,

forget-me-nots,

tradescantia,

For flower beds on balconies located on upper floors, and where the wind is stronger, make a choice in favor of begonia, ageratum, low-growing marigolds, and sedum.

On small balconies, mainly with vertical gardening, we plant petunias,

pelargonium,

ampere varieties of lobelia,

Tumbergia winged.

Plant an evergreen boxwood, and add ragwort (cineraria) or violets to it in the spring. Believe me, your composition will be original and very beautiful.

If you enjoy this experience, on next year try making a more complex composition:

Success will undoubtedly inspire you, and you will want to immediately develop it. This is when the stage of the “wise gardener” begins, who knows a sense of proportion and can restrain his impulses. First of all, for the benefit of the flowers and the entire flower garden. You have a small, but still a corner of wildlife on your balcony. And in nature, everything is arranged very intelligently, even though we often do not understand this and consider the existing rules according to which the strongest survive to be cruel. Therefore, be guided by a sense of proportion and do not rush to plant flowers on the entire balcony at once. And don’t be afraid of failures, they are inevitable in such a situation. difficult matter like growing flowers. Failures will be forgotten, and the reward in the form of constant communication with flowers, your joy from this communication and the joy of your loved ones will always be with you. And it may well be that an absent-minded passer-by will accidentally raise his head, stop dead in his tracks, seeing your balcony, and say: “What a beauty!”
