Connection diagram for an Internet socket by color. Socket for an Internet cable: selection and installation. Technology for installing computer sockets

And the last one is the Internet, which is very popular nowadays. I already wrote about the first two, just follow the links, but about the last one, “tailored” for computers, I somehow kept putting it off. Today I want to correct this injustice and post complete instructions for connecting. I have a LEZARD socket, but it will be useful for everyone to look at it, because the principle is the same for everyone. As usual there will be photo and video instructions. So bookmark it...

First, let's look at the Internet outlet itself. This is a plastic type that is inserted into, but connected to an internet cable, meaning there are no electrical wires there.

On the outside of this socket there is a connector for an RJ45 connector; it is into this that we then insert the wire from network card computer, laptop or TV (). Hangs on the wall to hide wires (which are embedded in the wall) and make it more aesthetically pleasing. Everything is hidden, everything is beautiful - this is the main purpose. I think now it becomes clear why it is needed!

Disassembling the Internet outletLEZARD

Before we mount it, we need to disassemble it. This is done in order to connect it to the Internet cable, and then attach it to the wall. Well let's go:

  • Unscrew the body. We unscrew the central “bolt” and all the plastic decorative protection will come off. We don't need it yet.

  • After this we need to remove the central part with the main contacts. It sits on the latches, just press on top and everything will come off.

  • The central part is in our hands, it is this that we will connect to the Internet cable. To do this we need to remove the top “small” cover.

  • We need to “plant” the already stripped cable into these contacts. However, another question arises - how to plant it? Where should any colors be? See the diagram below.

Connection diagram

As you can see, different colors are applied to the “sides” of the outlet; it is by them that you can determine how to make the connection correctly. However, there are two rows of colors: row “A” and row “B”, which one to connect?

  • It's all just guys, the first row "A" is so to speak for self-connection, here the colors are not in the generally accepted configuration, as if for their own needs. It’s worth connecting this way if you did the wiring yourself. Scientifically, this configuration is called T568A, I do not advise you to use it, because now in Russia they use a slightly different configuration.
  • T568B, " option B“- this is a generally accepted configuration; if installers ran a wire into your apartment, they will “crimp” it this way! I myself, as an experienced IT specialist, use only this method so that everything is in order in my head. So, everything is simple - we combine the wires according to the colors.

That is, “white-orange” is marked on the body, insert the “white-orange” wire into it, if it’s blue, insert blue, and so on. I think there is no need to explain here. Watch the video version below for more details.

I would also like to note that you need to connect all 8 wires! Of course, there is an option with “four”, but it works at speeds of up to 100Mb/s. But all “eight” can withstand up to 1Gb/s, and this is serious!

How to start a wire

Many people wonder how to connect a cable to an Internet outlet? Does it need to be cleaned, etc.?

There is no need to clean anything! We simply take a piece of the required length and push it inwards with force. The socket has “incisors” on the sides; they are made like “teeth” with a point downwards. They cut through the cable braid to the metal and prevent it from coming back out.

Thus, the connections are very strong, and there is also an additional cover on top that will not allow the wires to escape.

Final connection

Well, we have completely figured it out, most importantly with the wiring. Now comes the final connection. We cut the cable (to the required length, I advise you to leave 10 - 15 cm) - we strip it and insert it into our connectors and close the plastic “small” cover.

Then we insert the resulting “block” into the window of the metal frame.

Now we mount the socket to the socket box. You may need both side locking bolts and standard ones from the socket box. This is what it looks like without the decorative “plug”.

Now we take and put on the “plug”, screw it onto the “bolt”. This is the final stage, in fact you can already use the Internet.

Now we are watching the video version of the article, in which I tried to tell in more detail.

VIDEO

Here are the instructions, use it guys. I’ve already connected several outputs this way, including behind the TV, and it’s been working for several years now!

Thanks to Legrand, connecting a computer outlet is becoming increasingly simpler. This leader in the manufacture of electrical installation and power equipment offers wide range sockets for network connections.

Thanks to this, you can organize a wired Internet access point in any place convenient for you, and an attractive appearance Such sockets will allow them to organically fit into the design of any room.

Due to the huge range of products manufactured by Legrand, the computer socket and connection diagram may vary somewhat. Here, a lot depends on the type of outlet, some features of installation, connection and its fastening.

And if we add here a variety of design solutions in design, rich color scheme and the types of materials used to make sockets, the range becomes truly comprehensive. Let's first try to understand at least the basic criteria for choosing computer sockets.

So:

  • First of all, you should pay attention to the category of information outlet. The Legrand company produces sockets of categories 5e and 6. At the moment, the release of sockets of category 6a has already been announced, but they are not yet presented on our market.
  • Let's look at the differences between these categories. Category 5e sockets are designed to transmit data with frequencies up to 100 MHz, and category 6 sockets up to 250 MHz. If we talk about data transfer speeds, category 5e sockets are capable of transmitting up to 1 Gbit/s, and category 6 sockets are capable of transmitting up to 10 Gbit/s. Considering the speed of development information technology, it is advisable to use category 6 sockets, despite the fact that their price is slightly higher.

  • Next is enough important parameter is the type of cable for which the data socket is intended. In most cases, this is a UTP cable type, but the Legrand computer socket and connection diagram can also be designed for STP or FTP cables. This type of cable can only be used for category 6 outlets.

Pay attention! The cable designation can be done in accordance with ISO/IEC 11801. In this case, the cable will be designated U/UTP, F/UTP or S/UTP, respectively. In addition, various additional modifications of these cables can be used.

  • UTP cable is a regular cable with twisted pairs, without shielding. If there is a braided screen, the cable is designated STP, and if regular foil is used as a screen, the cable is designated FTP. In addition, there are various modifications with braiding and foil of both the cable as a whole and individual cores.
  • Another factor that our instructions advise you to pay attention to is the method of fastening and mounting the connector itself. In addition to conventional connectors, an increasing number of models are equipped with quick-installation connectors. We will describe the features of connecting sockets of this type below, and you can choose a model that is more convenient for you.

Pay attention! Sockets with LCS 2 connectors are now available. They are presented only in category 6 sockets and are intended for fiber optic networks. As planned, the same connectors will be installed on category 6a models.

  • Another parameter that we advise you to pay attention to when choosing is the method of attaching the connector directly to the box. This can be a clamp or screw fastening. Of course, it is easier to mount models with clamp fasteners with your own hands, but I personally have doubts about their reliability and durability. Therefore, I advise using sockets with screw fastening.

  • Well, the last parameter is the number of connectors installed in one mounting box. This can be a product with 1 or 2 connectors. And here you can choose the model that best suits your needs.

Connecting Legrand information sockets

Now we come to the most important issue. How to connect a Legrand computer socket and connect computer sockets in general?

To do this, let's first look at general principles connecting information cables, and then the specifics of connecting them to different types of connectors.

General principles for connecting information sockets

Almost all modern local networks use the RJ-45 connector for connections. Although the official name of this connector is 8Р8С, which in the abbreviation means: 8 positions, 8 contacts.

To connect sockets and connectors of this type, a twisted pair cable is used, which has a strictly standardized color designation for each core. Based on this color designation, the connection is made.

So:

  • At the moment, there are two generally accepted connection standards: TIA/EIA-568A and TIA/EIA-568B. The difference between them is the location of the wires.
  • For the TIA/EIA-568A standard, a green-white wire is connected to the first pin of the connector, then in ascending order: green, orange-white, blue, blue-white, orange, brown-white and brown. This connection method has become somewhat less widespread.
  • For the TIA/EIA-568B standard, the wire rotation is as follows: orange-white, orange, green-white, blue, blue-white, orange, brown-white, brown. This type of connection is used much more often.

Connecting the Legrand socket connector

The connection diagram for a Legrand computer socket is no different from generally accepted standards. In this case, any outlet can be connected according to both standards. The corresponding color designation is available on the surface of the connector.

  • First of all, we need to get to the connector. IN different models It may be necessary to disassemble the outlet, but in most cases the connector can be reached without additional effort.
  • Open the cover covering the contact part. To do this, using a screwdriver, insert it into the cable socket and pry the cover up.
  • Now we cut the cable and lay the cable cores according to the color markings on the connector cover.
  • Close the top cover with force. During this, the cable cores are crimped and reliable contact is ensured. After this, you can trim off the excess cable cores protruding beyond the cover.
  • After this, you need to install the information socket in the socket and secure it with screws. The socket is ready for use.

Connector connection: quick installation

Connecting a Legrand computer socket with a connector - quick installation - is somewhat different. But this feature lies only in the installation method, and the connection diagram remains standard. At the same time, the connector is color-coded for both types of connection, which allows you to perform it even without having specific knowledge.

  • On the back of the Legrand computer socket there are two white latches, by turning them counterclockwise, we can remove the connector.
  • The connector is placed on the cable. After this, the cable should be cut and the cores connected according to the color marking. The protruding parts of the cores can be cut off.
  • Now we install the connector in place and turn it clockwise with a little force. During this, the cable is crimped and securely fixed.
  • Now we install the socket in the seat and secure it with screws. That's it, the socket is ready for use.

Conclusion

Now you know how to select and connect a computer socket. As you can see, this is quite simple to do. And the video on our website will make this task even easier. After all, such a simple procedure will greatly facilitate connecting to a wired Internet network and will allow you to hide and unify the wiring throughout the house as much as possible.

The Internet has become an integral part of people's lives. Thanks to new technologies, connecting to it has become easy and inexpensive. It is enough to have a desktop computer, laptop or smartphone.

Local distribution of Internet resources is carried out via wired or wireless network. Despite the mobility of wireless connections, the prevalence of wired networks is still high. They are chosen due to their high reliability, price and safety.

It is advisable to distribute Internet cables at the renovation stage, while it is possible to hide the wires in the wall without leaving a trace. In this case, sockets with a special RJ-45 connector are installed at the places where the wire exits. Their connection to the wires is carried out by crimping the socket contacts with a special tool.

Application options for RJ-45 Internet sockets

Private households are the leaders in terms of the number of wired networks. However, sockets for Internet cables find their application in other areas.

Requirements for technical specifications of these devices vary depending on the type of room in which they will be installed. They can be roughly divided as follows:

  • office premises;
  • Internet clubs;
  • server rooms;
  • places of trade;
  • buildings and premises with increased burglary protection.

Not a single modern office building is complete without access to the Internet or local network. This means that an Internet outlet is an integral attribute of such premises. In this case, it can not only be mounted on the wall, but also attached to the workplace. The second method is preferable, since openly laid wires fail much faster and spoil the aesthetic appearance of the room.

The existence of modern educational institutions is unthinkable without the presence of computer classes, Internet libraries and various multimedia devices. For this reason, an RJ45 socket in such places is no less common than an electrical one.

As for bank vaults, buildings of state and corporate security services, in such places it is necessary to create wired networks, since wireless ones cannot provide adequate security.

Types and types of Internet outlets

To implement a wired connection to the Internet, an RJ45 connector is used. This is a physical network standardized interface containing a description of the design of the plug, connector and a diagram of their connection with computing devices via an eight-core wire.

This type of wire is called twisted pair. This is due to the fact that it consists of four pairs of wires intertwined and is intended for organizing network connections. Twisted pair insulation, depending on the place of application, is selected in different thicknesses and with different properties.

RJ-45 Internet sockets are classified as follows:

  1. By the number of connectors. There are single, double and terminal. The latter can contain from 4 to 8 outputs. There are also combined products, or keystones. Their layout also includes other connectors: USB, HDMI and power sockets. That is, the design provides for division into 2 outputs, one of which provides access to the network, the other provides power to the device.
  2. Depending on the data exchange speed. The division occurs by categories. The main categories are: 3 – data exchange speed up to 100 Mbit/s; 5 – provides data transfer at speeds up to 1 Gbit/s, 6 – up to 10 Gbit/s.
  3. By type of installation. As with electrical outlets, fixtures can be internal or surface-mounted. For installation internal socket a technological recess and a protective plastic socket in the wall under the contact group are required. The invoice has a different method of fastening. It is mounted to a pre-attached mounting plate.

It is preferable to hide the cable for an overhead socket under the baseboard or in a separate cable channel. This will protect him from negative influences environment and will extend service life.

Features of RJ 45 cable pinout

Connecting an RJ-45 socket should not cause any inconvenience. To make things easier, each socket is color coded to match T568A or T568B standards. This information may be marked with letters corresponding to standard A or B.

It does not matter which standard is used in this case, the main thing is that all local network connections are made in accordance with the same standard. The T568B standard has become more widespread, but this is not always the case.

In order to determine which standard the provider uses, you need to find out what pinout is on the cable entering the room.

Another feature is the use of straight and cross pinouts depending on the type of devices being connected.

Direct is used to establish communication between consumer devices and the router. Cross-links devices with similar functionality (PC-to-PC, router-to-router).

RJ-45 connection

The twisted pair is hidden in a cable duct or under the baseboard. The end of the wire (in the case of hidden installation) is led out through the socket box or simply left uncovered. 6-7 cm retreat from the edge. External insulation must be removed from this area. Pairs of wires unwind and align each core.

If a router is connected to the connector, network sockets must be placed nearby.

The sequence of how to connect an Internet cable to an outlet looks like this:

  1. Remove the socket cover. Below it is a connection diagram for two standards: A and B. How to connect the cable depends on which standard the provider uses. You can clarify this information with him or use the method described above.
  2. After identifying the circuit, the twisted pair cores are connected. When directing the wires to the appropriate terminals, we carefully ensure that the color of the wires and contacts of the microlegs match. When installing the Rj 45 socket, the ends of the wires are not stripped; they are pressed into the terminal until they click using the plastic extractor included in the kit. A click indicates that the sheath has been cut, which means that the wires have been crimped and are being crimped; the wires should be additionally crimped if the extractor is not included in the kit and the necessary tool is not at hand.
  3. We fasten the twisted pair to the housing so that the stripped part is 3-5 mm above the clamp. After this, we check the functionality of the Rj 45 socket connection. We do the test using a special tester or by connecting a computer. If the connection does not work, you should first check the pinout.
  4. We remove excess wires and assemble the socket.
  5. If the socket is overhead, we attach it to the wall with the connector facing down, since installing it in a different way will lead to damage to the cable in the future.

If you use a shielded cable, you need to connect an Internet outlet with the ability to install a screen. If this is not done, the screen will stop working and this will negatively affect the transmission of information.

When implementing a local network based on twisted pair, soldering and twisting should be avoided. A solid wire is required. Places of such connections dampen the signal. If it is necessary to increase the cable length, you should use a connector in which the signal from one cable to another goes along special tracks.

Such a device consists of a board with Rj 45 connectors or terminals, as when installing Internet sockets.

When connecting to an outlet with Internet access, twisted pair is also used, but only 4 of the 8 wires are used.

The first pair is needed to receive data packets, the second is needed to transmit them. If the wires are damaged, one of the free pairs is used or, using the remaining two pairs of wires, a second computer is connected.

To connect to the network, the hub computer uses only orange and green lines. The contacts are crimped to terminals of the same colors at both ends.

Checking Wiring Signals

After connecting the socket, you should check the presence and correctness of the signal. The test is carried out using a household tester. To do this, you will need a patch cord with a straight pinout pattern and a length of 0.5 - 5 m.

We connect the second end of the laid wire to the test socket. We set the tester to the sound signal position and check the patch cord channels and sockets. An audible signal indicates the presence of a connection.

If the tester is not equipped with an audible signal, it must be set to resistance mode. The presence of a signal will be indicated by changing numbers on the screen.

A special cable tester also checks the signal. To do this, you will need another patch cord with a direct connection diagram. To check the signal, insert one end of each cable into the sockets of the sockets. We include the remaining ends in the tester. The cable tester will indicate whether the connection is correct.

If there is no signal (in this case, the connection was made independently, and the connected device was purchased with an assembled patch cord), it is necessary to check what circuit the patch cord is assembled according to and whether this circuit corresponds to how the connector was connected.

There may be no signal even if a cheap socket was purchased with poor-quality soldering. It should be replaced with a better one. This will save installation time and eliminate the possibility of breakdowns during the entire service life.

Internet socket, which is used in computer and other communication networks, has a significant difference from connecting and installing conventional electrical equipment. This is explained by the presence of a cable for data transmission (twisted pair is used) and the presence of an RJ-45 plug that must be connected to the power supply (type 8P8C). These two differences significantly changed the structure of the connector, because of this, the installation and connection of the Internet outlet also changed significantly.

What is important to know?

As a rule, a socket with two twisted pairs with four wires is used (eight wires are obtained). Each core is divided by color and has a personal color marking. They are all necessary for fast data transmission.

The 8Р8С type connector, which is used to connect to the socket, has the following form:

Manufacturing engineers spent a lot of effort developing such an Internet socket that the user could independently install and connect to electrical network without experience or special equipment. In addition, the consumer must make the connection in such a way that the reliability of the connections and the safety of the contacts remain at the highest level.

Preparatory work

The example uses a product from the Legrand Valena model. Since its mechanism is suitable for many series of Legrand electrical installation equipment, it has become popular among consumers.

Before you begin installing a computer socket with your own hands, you need to install a twisted pair cable. To do this, the end of the twisted pair is brought out into the socket box.

First of all, you need to remove the back cover from the mechanism. To do this, the Internet socket must be turned back to face. This is done as follows: you need to turn the white lock clockwise (approximately ninety degrees). How this is done correctly is shown in the photo below:

After the latch has been rotated, it stands perpendicular to the connector body and the rear part of the structure is easily detached from the device. Then you need to insert the network cable (twisted pair) into the center of the back cover, which was previously removed. This is done from the latch side (outer side). After this you need to expose the veins. To do this, you need to carefully remove the protective sheath from the twisted pair.

Connection nuances

There are grooves and stickers on the back cover of the Internet socket that indicate which circuit the device can be connected to. There are two connection schemes - A and B. Which type to use depends on how the equipment is connected to each other.

Today, almost all network structures independently recognize the connection scheme used and, if necessary, adapt to it. But the network outlet to which you need to connect the mechanism to access the Internet is best installed by connecting the wires of diagram B.

According to the diagram, it is required to place twisted pair wires of a certain color into the grooves of the cover of the corresponding color.

Then return the lid to its original place. As soon as the cover is in its seat, close the white latch. To do this, it turns counterclockwise. It should be noted that incorrect installation of the cover is completely excluded, since the device has special elements that are mirrored on the connector (protrusion and groove). Therefore, it is impossible to install the elements incorrectly.

But the question arises: how is the Internet socket connected to the cable, since the insulation from the cores was not removed? This is considered the main difference between a network socket and other electrical installation structures. The pads with contacts in a computer socket are two sharpened plates. They are arranged so that the distance between them is equal to the cross-section of the double copper core.

Thus, the cover with all the inserted wires is placed in its original place, and these blades cut through the insulation of the twisted pair and come into contact with the cores that conduct current. This connection is reliable. It guarantees uninterrupted stable operation of electronic structures. In this case, the work will be carried out without unnecessary losses.

Then you should make sure that the installation of the cores is carried out correctly and cut off the excess ends of the twisted pair that stick out. The main thing is not to allow any cables to accidentally short-circuit with each other.

All that remains is to install the Internet socket in the socket box and secure the front panel. Once connected to the network, you can check the result. You can install and connect any network device yourself using this method. Even if contact groups will differ in them, the meaning will not change.

For example, there is a socket mechanism that is connected manually. That is, each twisted pair cord is squeezed into a specific terminal according to the number and, as shown in the photo below. This is a little more complicated and longer than installing a Legrand series internet outlet. But the technology of how to install and connect the device remains unchanged: the cores fall into the hole between the pointed plates and touch the core, which carries the current.

Recently, connecting an Internet cable to an outlet has become increasingly common. After all, it is quite convenient, it allows you to connect various devices and most importantly allows you to hide as much as possible utility networks and get rid of unnecessary wires. In addition, the installation of information sockets allows you to provide a reliable Internet connection in any corner of the apartment or house.

Before connecting the cable to the Internet outlet, we should create a local network at home or apartment. To do this, we need a router or router, as well as a sufficient number of cables and sockets to connect them. In this case, the connection diagram can only be star. This is a scheme where a separate cable goes from the router to each outlet.

So:

  • The first question that will confront you if you are planning to make a local network with your own hands is where to install the router. For apartments, this place is usually the hallway or other place where the provider's cable enters the house. This is due to the possibility of replacing the provider without major changes in the cable layout.
  • For your home, especially if it has a large area, it is advisable to install the router closer to the center of the house. This is due to better distribution of the Wi-Fi signal throughout the house, as well as a reduction in the level of interference on the network. After all, if the wire length exceeds 100m, then the drop in signal level is already quite noticeable. And the price of the cable required to connect all sockets from the most remote point can be quite significant.

  • As for laying the wire, certain rules should also be followed here. First of all, you should not lay information cables together with power cables. This is due to the fact that power cables Usually they do not have shielding and the flows induced by them can introduce considerable interference into the operation of information networks.
  • In addition, our instructions do not recommend laying information cables near powerful power equipment, chokes used to turn on fluorescent lamps and electric motors. They can also significantly interfere with the operation of information networks.
  • Internet sockets, or as most manufacturers call them, RJ-45 sockets, are also better placed not together with power sockets. And even if this is done, then at least place them along the edges, and not between power outlets or switches.

Pay attention! RJ 45 is the name of the standard, and the name of the connector is 8P8C. This is what is used to build local networks. If you come across a socket made according to the RJ45S standard, then this socket uses a four-wire connection circuit, used when connecting modems.

Connecting the cable to the RJ 45 socket

The question of how to connect an Internet cable to an outlet is one of the most problematic. Although there is nothing complicated here.

Many people are confused by several connection options indicated on sockets, but this issue is quite simple to deal with.

Data cable connection options

At the moment, there are two options for connecting twisted pair network conductors. These are the T568A and T568B standards. Both of them have the right to exist, but the first option is considered obsolete and in most cases the T568B standard is now used.

So:

  • The differences between these connection standards are the alternation of wire connections in the connector. You can see them in the photo below. And if you choose the wrong option, your network will not work.

  • In order to choose the right connection standard, carefully consider the power cable from your provider. Determine what standard their wires are crimped to and do the same. But it’s better to find out this at the stage of connecting to the Internet, directly from the workers.
  • Now knowing the standard according to which we will make the connection, you can proceed directly to installation. At the moment, there are sockets on the market with two main types of wire crimping. Let's look at each of the options.

Connecting conventional information sockets

Manufacturers of sockets made sure that connecting the Internet cable to the socket was simplified as much as possible. Therefore, all electrical installation devices are color coded according to both types of standard.

So:

  • At the first stage, we open the socket. There may be several options here. It can be connected with screws or clamps. If there are special guides for the wire, pass it through them. In some cases, fastening the wire to the socket is ensured by a regular tie.
  • Now remove the cable braid. This must be done as carefully as possible so as not to damage the cable cores.
  • Unravel the cable strands and insert them according to color coding on the socket. After that, using a special tool or just a thin screwdriver, clamp the cable into the connector. Some types of sockets have a special cap for these purposes, which secures the cores in their working condition.

Pay attention! When clamping the cable in the connector, the cable cores must be pierced with special contacts. This is what ensures reliable contact. But you should not be zealous in pressing so as not to break the socket itself.

  • Now we cut off the protruding excess veins. We fix the cable in the socket using a tie and close the socket. This completes the connection of the cable to the Internet outlet.

Connecting information sockets with a rotating connector mechanism

As far as I know, such information sockets are produced only by the Legrand company, but the equipment is quite convenient and reliable. Therefore, in the near future such sockets may appear from other manufacturers.

  • To connect an Internet cable to an outlet, we first need to open the outlet itself. Screw or clamp fastening of the front part is also possible here.
  • Now we turn the moving part of the connector counterclockwise and remove it. We thread the cable into the vacated ring and strip it.
  • According to the markings on the connector ring, we lay the cable. There is no need to make any special efforts here; just securely fasten the cable cores in the sockets. We cut off the excess ends of the cable.
  • Now we put the moving part directly on the connector. This must be done as shown in the video and without much effort.
  • After the moving part is completely seated on the connector, turn it clockwise. This must be done with little effort, but without fanaticism. During this action, the insulation of the cable cores is cut and reliable contact of the connector with the cable is ensured.
  • At the last stage, we put on our front part of the socket, lay out the cable and fix the socket in the socket. This completes the connection of the Internet cable to the outlet, and you can check the functionality of the outlet.

Conclusion

As you can see, the process of installing information outlets is quite simple and does not require specific knowledge. Yes, in some cases the lack of a specialized tool makes itself felt and poor contact or its complete absence is possible. This can be easily checked with a multimeter. But in most cases, reconnecting the cable eliminates all these problems.
