Vacuum cleaner for a country pool: the eyes are afraid, the hands are busy. Vacuum cleaner for the pool from the manufacturer or with your own hands Do-it-yourself water vacuum cleaner for the pool

If you are the happy owner of a swimming pool, then you, like no one else, know what a “pleasant” feeling it is to clean it. Whatever one may say, such work has to be done regularly. And we are talking not only about cleaning the water in the pool, but also about cleaning the walls and bottom of the structure. This is a painstaking task that not everyone can handle. There are many improvised means that people use to clean swimming pools. But they are all primitive and require time and effort. There is one tool that will help speed up cleaning work and reduce energy costs. If a broom is used to clean the house, then a vacuum cleaner was invented as an alternative. With it, the work is done more thoroughly, easier and faster. You will be surprised, but there is also a vacuum cleaner for the pool. This is a convenient unit that will simplify your life.

In this article we will discuss the types of vacuum cleaners for swimming pools, find out their advantages, and compare some models. And for those who do not want to buy expensive equipment, we have prepared instructions that will help you create a vacuum cleaner for your pool with your own hands.

Why is it recommended to use a pool vacuum cleaner?

You may have this question, because in the past you have successfully done everything with a mop, nets and other hand tools. Why should you switch to such a unit? There are several reasons that we will look at. First, I would like to draw attention to the operating principle of such a vacuum cleaner. Its task is to suck in contaminated water, pass it through a filter, and then, in purified form, throw it back into the pool.

Thanks to this, you can save your energy and time, which is now quite difficult to allocate. Here are the main advantages of using such water vacuum cleaners:

  • there is no need to regularly replace fluid in the pool;
  • a huge range of products: performance, power, type, brand;
  • ease of cleaning of any surfaces of the pool: bottom, steps, walls;
  • Caring for the pond is simplified several times. It’s easy to do all the work yourself without spending money on hiring professionals. At the same time, time costs are reduced;
  • The pool bowl is cleaned thoroughly and carefully. You will not be able to damage the surface of the tile and shorten its service life.

As you can see, there are many advantages. Therefore, if you are the happy owner of a swimming pool, then you simply need a water vacuum cleaner. Just analyze how often you clean your pool and how this prospect makes you feel. With a vacuum cleaner, the task becomes easier, and the process becomes even more fun. It is noteworthy that you can find several types of products on the market. What are they? Let's find out.

Water Vacuum Cleaner Options

Due to the fact that manufacturers prepare several model ranges of equipment, you have the opportunity to purchase the option that will be appropriate in your case. Choices have always attracted consumers. What is this model range? You can buy the following models:

Already from the name it becomes clear how to work with one or another type of vacuum cleaner. They have their own characteristics and are used in certain cases. For example, handmade products are the most affordable and simple. This is an ideal option when it comes to cleaning an inflatable or frame small pool. The products are supplied with two attachments: a brush, which can be used to clean different areas of silt and dirt, and a mesh net, which collects large debris from the surface of the water. The device has a bag or compartment into which all the dirt, silt and other debris falls. And passing through the filter, the water is purified and returned back to the reservoir. All that remains is to remove the garbage from the bag.

Pay attention! Handmade products are budget options that everyone can afford. Their advantage is that they do a great job, are safe, reduce cleaning time and save you energy. The downside is that it can only clean a small tank.

If we talk about the operating principle of a semi-automatic water vacuum cleaner, then it is a little different. It needs to be immersed in water by connecting a water hose to a skimmer (garbage collector). The pump with the filter begins to create pressure and vibration, due to which the vacuum cleaner begins to move chaotically along the surface of the pool (along the bottom). Vacuum products operate by hydraulic traction and are quite powerful. In this video you will see exactly how they function.

As for robotic vacuum cleaners, they are the most expensive, but the most profitable. They can be called a technological breakthrough. The device will perform cleaning on its own, without your participation. Just launch it. There is a remote control for this. This is an ideal option for any pool, even the largest. Such a personal assistant will do all the cleaning work for you, without any problems. But you can’t make such a vacuum cleaner for a pool with your own hands.

Review of popular vacuum cleaner models

There is probably not a single person who has not heard of the Intex company. For many years they have been producing various products related to bathing: swimming pools, mattresses, swimming paraphernalia, etc. They also have water vacuum cleaners. They are considered top sellers, we are talking about both quality and cost. If you don't want to make a manual pool vacuum cleaner yourself, you can purchase one. Which models should you pay attention to?

For you, we have selected two models that are currently the most popular and in demand:

You can easily buy them in a specialized store. What is the difference between water vacuum cleaners and what are their advantages?

If we talk about the first option, then this is a semi-automatic vacuum cleaner that effectively copes with cleaning large pools. It is used for above ground tanks. The advantage of a vacuum cleaner is that you don't have to monitor it or walk near the brush. Just turn it on and watch the process. When hitting the sides, it will not stop in one place, but will automatically change its path. In order for the unit to operate at 100% efficiency, you need to use a pump with a capacity of more than 6 m 3 / h. The work is completely autonomous. The cost of a water vacuum cleaner is about 5 thousand rubles.

"Intex 58947" is a manual vacuum cleaner that is quite practical and inexpensive. When purchasing a model, you not only have a vacuum cleaner, but also the following set of elements:

  • brush;
  • hose;
  • net;
  • long rod 2.8 m.

All this can be put together quite quickly, and the vacuum cleaner copes with its task quite effectively. Thanks to the net, you can easily collect all the debris from the surface of the water. But, as for cleaning the walls, steps and bottom, you will have to work a little with your own hands. Operation of the equipment is simple and comes down to the same manipulations as with a vacuum cleaner for an apartment. The cost of production is about 3 thousand rubles.

Customer Reviews

So that you can fully evaluate the products, we suggest that you consider the reviews of those who have already tried the units in action.

Nikolay, Novosibirsk: “Several years ago I built myself a swimming pool, 60 m2. Although the pool has a built-in skimmer, which perfectly cleans the water, the walls and bottom become covered with silt and dirt over time. The Intex 28001 (58948) vacuum cleaner does an excellent job with them. It has been working perfectly for 3 years. There are no complaints about the work."

Irina, Moscow: “My husband and I decided to make a small pool at our dacha. The kids absolutely love it, but we have to clean it regularly, which isn't very pleasant. On the advice of a consultant, we purchased an Intex semi-automatic, I don’t remember the model. It’s just a miracle that has made our life easier.”

Victor, Yekaterinburg: “I have a whole complex of swimming pools in the city that need to be cleaned regularly. That's why I use the Intex 28001 vacuum cleaner. The model is practical, compact and efficient. With it, work is done quickly, efficiently and effortlessly. It is important to me that clients do not complain about garbage and dirt. So far there have been no complaints, which means that the equipment copes with the task 100%.”

Svetlana, St. Petersburg: “My parents have a small pool in their dacha. It is inflatable and is actively used every summer. To make cleaning it easier, we gave them "Intex 58947". They are happy because it works

As you can see, these models are really good and perform their tasks without question. For this price, these options are simply ideal. But what if you cannot afford to purchase such equipment? If you have some construction skills and time, you can build the equipment yourself.

DIY pool vacuum cleaner

Don't be afraid, even if you haven't done this kind of work. Thanks to detailed instructions, you will cope with the task. There is no need to spend several days. To ensure everything works out for you, immediately prepare the following materials:

  • polypropylene pipe;
  • corrugated hose;
  • a brush or something else as an intake nozzle;
  • sealing rubber bands.

All this can be bought at a plumbing store. Please note that the following creation process is based on the fact that you have a regular pump. As for the choice of hose diameter, work and rubber seal, it all depends on the size of the pipe through which filtered water is supplied.

Making a brush for a vacuum cleaner

There are several ways to make an intake nozzle. We will look at them, and you can choose the best one for yourself.

Pay attention! To prevent the edges of the tube from scratching the pool, it is better to treat them with sandpaper or a file. Otherwise, the surface may be damaged. This will be disastrous for inflatable products.

Connecting the vacuum cleaner

When the brush is ready, you can start connecting it. To make everything work top level, you need to adhere to the basic rule - tightness.

You will need a corrugated hose, which is sold for siphons under sinks and sinks. It must be fixed at the point where water is drawn from the tank. It should be connected using an adapter for sewerage of the same size. As for the sealing rubber, it is important that it tightly grips the hose and adheres to the water intake.

A mandatory part of a water vacuum cleaner is the handle. To make it, you can use a plastic tube, the length of which is approximately two meters. It all depends on the size of the pool and your height. That's all, you have made a vacuum cleaner for the frame pool. It can be used to clean small inflatable, frame, and plastic pools. And to reduce excess consumption of liquid, you can pass it through a filter and return it to the reservoir.

Conclusion

If you are tired of manually cleaning your pool, then you can resort to using a vacuum cleaner to make the task easier for you. You have the opportunity to either buy it or make it yourself. Whatever option you choose, you can be sure that such an invention will not be superfluous. And if you are interested in a robotic pool vacuum cleaner, you can see the principle of its operation and its operating features from this video.

Ecology of consumption. Estate: A vacuum cleaner for a swimming pool is an excellent invention for cleaning its surfaces. A DIY pool vacuum cleaner is a simple invention that is even fun to work with.

A pool vacuum cleaner is an excellent invention for cleaning pool surfaces. Regardless of the quality of the installed inlet filter, plaque forms on the walls of the pool and on its bottom. In addition, dirt often gets into the pool in the form of leaves and dust, which, when deposited, creates an unpleasant layer on the surface. Such stains can be removed in many ways, but one of the best is a pool vacuum cleaner. Making it with your own hands is quite simple, and today DachaDecor.ru will help you decide on this task.

Pool cleaning methods

There are many ways to keep your pool clean. One of them is constant replacement of water and filling the pool through special filters. In this case, the water will not have time to stagnate and pathogenic organisms will not be able to quickly develop in it. However, this method is very expensive, because the water will have to be changed at least 1-2 times a week... and there can be a lot of it.

Depending on the size of the pool, even if even a small frame is installed at the dacha, the amount of water can reach tens of cubic meters. Even an average pool with dimensions of 4x2 m and a depth of 1.2-1.5 m is already more than 10 cubic meters water. Just calculate how huge the expense will be. But that's not all. Of course, with water from a pool that has been in it for only a few days, you can wash your car, irrigate trees, rinse even the façade of a house, or water all the beds in your garden. But how much water will it take? A cube or two? Where should the rest of the water go? Pour it down the drain?

It’s good if so, but often there is no central sewage system in the country. Then the water is drained into the nearest ditch, but this is fraught with many problems - from the development of harmful microorganisms there to the creation of a small swamp with frogs and snakes.

In general, this is not an option, unless you have a pool at your dacha that only holds a cube or two of water, for example, an inflatable pool for children. Then, in principle, the question of cleaning it disappears. But we are talking about medium-sized pools, and therefore we need to look for the right method.

  • You can use a distillation pump with filters, but you must understand that it only purifies water. That is, depending on the technology and equipment used, the water will be purified from microscopic impurities and organisms that can create a pathogenic environment;
  • Can also be used to clean a swimming pool chemicals, which will simply lead the water to a dead state. But again, you will only get rid of bacteria, but not of debris on the surface of the water and plaque on the walls of the pool;
  • Using a special net will help collect leaves and pieces of paper from the surface of the water, and a brush with a long handle will help remove some of the plaque from the waterline. But the rest of the dirt will simply settle and remain at the bottom.

As you can see, cleaning a pool that is filled with water is no longer as simple a task as it was previously thought when purchasing a pool. Here it is necessary to use complex methods, one of which will be a vacuum cleaner for the pool.

What is a pool vacuum cleaner?

This equipment, if you don’t go into too much detail technical specifications, is a pump for distillation and purification of water with several filters. From the main pump unit there is a long hose with a handle and a brush, through which dirt and plaque are collected. By wiping the bottom and walls of the pool with a brush, bristles or the rubber base of the brush, you remove dirt from the surface, which, along with the water, goes into the hose and reaches the pump, where it is cleaned by passing through a filter or several filters. Depending on power and general purpose a vacuum cleaner for swimming pools, the filters inside it can be changed even several times during one pool cleaning, it all depends on the severity of the pollution.

A pool vacuum helps with removing sediment as well as buildup that builds up along the waterline.

Most often, these are gray and yellow spots, or even a film that needs to be rubbed well so that it comes away from the walls and the bottom of the pool.

If you work with a pool vacuum cleaner correctly and systematically, it can serve you for quite a long time. In addition, each individual pool cleaning will take much less time.

How is the price of a pool vacuum cleaner determined?

You can buy such equipment without any problems. Today, vacuum cleaners for swimming pools are available from companies offering swimming pools and complete equipment for them, as well as from many wholesalers, online stores, and even in standard retail. But the price tag may vary significantly.

At first glance, you can pay several thousand rubles for a miniature vacuum cleaner, but will it do the job? On the other hand, is it worth purchasing powerful equipment and reproaching yourself for such serious waste for a long time? Probably, it is necessary to determine some alternative method with the help of which it will be possible to find a solution to the issue for minimal money.

If we continue the conversation about the prices of vacuum cleaners for swimming pools, they can reach hundreds of thousands of rubles. For example, robotic vacuum cleaners for swimming pools that independently move along the bottom of the bowl and clean its surface. The same powerful vacuum cleaners from recognized pool manufacturers, recommended, but terribly expensive. Well, and other options, which often cost more than they should.

Alternative cleaning of a small country pool

We decided to continue the theme, starting from small pools for summer cottages. Let it be inflatable or frame pools, because most often these are the ones we have installed. Today we will skip capital and composite pools, since we are absolutely sure that when purchasing a pool for a million or two, no one will bother with a device for cleaning it. The complex system will be purchased on the first day of purchasing the pool.

Let's continue about small plastic plunge pools, inflatable and frame pools. They need to be washed and cleaned, because pool water heated in the sun is an excellent environment for many disease-causing pathogens. Therefore, we get rid of them in several effective ways:

  • Every day we cover the pool so that nothing unnecessary gets into it;
  • We take procedures only correctly - after a shower, in special swimwear, do not forget to take off your slippers and do not allow animals, even the most beloved ones, into the water;
  • We often collect debris from the surface of the water with a net or special plastic buckets;
  • We use pool chemicals that will help cope with bacteria, algae and other negatives in the water;
  • We change the water in the pool on time;
  • And we definitely use cleaning and washing of the dry pool while it is without water, as well as cleaning and washing with a special vacuum cleaner.

Yes, it will take time, but there is no way around it, especially if you want the procedures to be pleasant and not negatively affect your health.

DIY pool vacuum cleaner

So that you don’t have to purchase expensive equipment, we will give you advice on how to make it yourself for pennies. You will only need to spend money on high-quality filters for the pump, as well as chemicals for pools.

We decided to bypass several models where the base is created independently. We don't need to think about the design of the pump, because we already have it. But we have thought through the cleaning system to the end.

It's really simple and we'll only need to combine the pump we already have with a few extra parts.

Pool vacuum cleaner brush

The brush is that part of the overall surface cleaning mechanism that will remove plaque from the walls of the pool. With its help it will be possible to produce daily cleaning, if necessary, or clean tougher dirt if you clean much less frequently.

The brush can be made with your own hands from different materials, or simply purchased at the store. This is far from the most expensive piece of equipment, and therefore everyone can afford the purchase.

If you want to make a brush yourself, there are several options:

  • The first is that you simply connect a brush from a home vacuum cleaner to the water intake hose of the pump. In the set of almost every modern household appliance There is a brush that we do not use. It has a very narrow slot, flat and small, for cleaning in corners and behind furniture. It can also be used for a swimming pool. But there is one drawback - it is really small, and due to this, cleaning time can seriously increase;
  • Brush made of polypropylene pipe. You need to take a water supply pipe, which is used for distributing water in the house, cut off only 20-30 cm from it and make a cut along the pipe only 3-5 mm wide. Next, cut the pipe in half and insert both pieces into a tee, which is also used for wiring in plumbing work. Naturally, you will have to use soldering here. Now, in the third hole of the tee, install another piece of a whole polypropylene pipe, which will become an adapter between our brush and the hose leading to the pump. And the first two pieces of pipe, which have a slot, need to be plugged at the edges; there are also special plugs for this. The brush is ready!
  • The third type of homemade brush for a water vacuum cleaner is a modernized brush made from a plastic pipe. That is, we take a ready-made brush that we just created and add several auxiliary parts to it. This can be a rubber band from a regular car windshield wiper that is glued to a pipe with a slot. The rubber band will help remove dirt from the surface. Also, it can be a thin strip with bristles. Any addition can be glued or screwed to the pipe with small screws!

When creating a brush, you need to make all edges without sharp corners so as not to scratch or tear the surface of the pool. You also need to work only with high-quality glue and soldering for polypropylene pipes, so that with minimal force under water the brush does not fall apart. Please also note that the slot in the water intake pipe is offset, depending on the angle of the brush to the walls or bottom of the pool, and the rubber band or bristles that we installed on the brush for scraping off dirt should not get into the slot and interfere suck up dirt.

Connecting a pool vacuum cleaner

Now we need the homemade water vacuum cleaner to work. To do this, it must be airtight, first of all.

We take a simple transparent corrugated hose, which in plumbing work is installed on siphons under sinks, and fix it to the place where water is taken from the pool. Usually it is already there, since through it the pump draws water from the distillation bowl.

Our hose can be connected quite simply, and there are several ways to do this. The first is to use a sewer adapter, choosing it exactly in size so that the elastic fits tightly to the water intake and also tightly grips the hose. And, secondly, use an ordinary plunger, in which you need to make a hole exactly in the middle, where you need to install another piece of plastic pipe. Next, the plunger can be put on the water intake, and the vacuum cleaner will be ready to go!

Please note that it is much more convenient to work with rubber sewer adapters or other plumbing parts, since due to the large assortment it will be much easier for you to do right choice by size.

Another essential part is the handle for the vacuum cleaner. This could again be the same polypropylene pipe 1.5-2 meters long, which will be installed on the brush. With its help, you can set the entire cleaning mechanism in motion.

If you have a swimming pool, you definitely need to clean it. Moreover, this is not affected by the quality of the installed filter. Dirt, debris, fallen leaves, hair - all this gradually accumulates on the bottom and walls of any hydraulic structure. The most profitable way would be to clean the pool with a handheld vacuum cleaner. However, if it is not possible to purchase it, there is an option to make it yourself.

What methods are used to clean swimming pools?

Besides using cleaning devices, there are many options for keeping your pool clean. The main ones include frequent replacement of water and cleaning filters. As a result, the water will contain fewer harmful microbes and its quality will be higher. However, it is quite difficult to follow these rules, because ideally you need to change the water at least twice a week, or even more. It all depends on the degree of contamination and the size of the hydraulic structure. Even the smallest pool can hold a huge amount of water, translating into numbers - up to tens of cubic meters. Therefore, changing the fluid so often is not cost-effective. It’s okay with its consumption, but what to do with the water that you drain. So if you don’t want to create a swamp with harmful microorganisms, a hand-held vacuum cleaner is the best option.

There are several other methods you can use:

  1. There are special pumps with cleaning filters. Their work is aimed at purifying water directly. Depending on the device used, the degree of water purification will vary. This way you will kill harmful microorganisms that may live in a dirty environment.
  2. Second effective way involves the use of chemicals. They also purify water cellular level. You won't be able to get rid of large amounts of garbage this way.
  3. You can use very simple tools: a net and a brush. However, without a suction filter, dirt will not leave the floor, but will only spread across the surface. It is good to use a net before using a hand-held vacuum cleaner to remove leaves and large debris.

Thus, cleaning the pool no longer seems as easy as it might have seemed when you purchased it.
In order to make a water vacuum cleaner for a pool with your own hands, you need to have an idea of its structure.

If we briefly and clearly describe the principle of operation of a hand-held vacuum cleaner, it comes down to the usual distillation of water and passing it through several filters. There is a main pump; it pumps water that enters the hose through the brush. It is thanks to the brush that all plaque on the walls and floor of the pool moves away from the surface and is absorbed by the filter.

Please note. Depending on the level of contamination of the pool, you may need to change the cleaning filter several times. So evaluate the power of the device in advance and, if necessary, purchase additional filters.

To ensure proper pool cleaning, go over the areas where the pool is dirty several times. This way you will get more effect.

6 rules that will help you clean your pool less often:

  1. When you are not using your pool, make it a habit to cover it.
  2. Protect the pool from animals swimming in it. Also stick to the specific clothing you wear when swimming.
  3. Use a net and frequently collect large debris from the pool surface.
  4. Purchase a chemical solution that will prevent buildup pests in the water.
  5. Change the pool water at least once a week.
  6. Remember that cleaning a dry pool has a better effect. So remove accumulated deposits from the sides of the hydraulic structure by first draining the water.

DIY vacuum cleaner

Perhaps some of you have ever thought about how to make a pool vacuum cleaner with your own hands.
The first thing we'll start with is the brush. Its main purpose is to scrape off plaque from the surface of the pool. This is an important part of the work, since the filter cannot do this on its own. There are two scenarios here. The first involves creating a brush from improvised materials, because its design is very simple and does not require special materials. Or you can purchase this device in a store. Its cost is not high, so everyone can afford it.
If you decide to start creating a brush yourself, then you need to know several options on how to do this:

  1. The first method is to use a brush from the attachment of a home vacuum cleaner. Surely you have at least one attachment you don’t use. It can be attached to a hose. There is only one nuance - size. Cleaning with it will take you a lot of time and effort.
  2. The second method involves using a polypropylene pipe. Take a small length, about 30 cm and cut it along the length. Divide the product into two parts and insert it into a special tee, which is used for installing plumbing at home. You can't do this without soldering. We took two adapter holes. Now take another piece of pipe and insert it into the third empty recess. All that remains is to plug the remaining pieces of pipe and voila! The brush is ready.
  3. This method involves improving the second option. Here you need to add a couple of details, for example, a wiper blade on a car. Screw the brush onto the pipe and you're done.

Please note. When working on the brush, make sure that it does not contain sharp corners. Otherwise, they may scratch the surface of the pool.

In the process of creating a bottom vacuum cleaner for a pool with your own hands, you need to ensure its tightness. To do this, take a corrugated hose and install it in the place where the water is drawn. To make the job easier, you can use either a plunger or a sewer adapter.

The final touch is to use the same polypropylene pipe as a handle for the brush.
Nothing gives a clearer picture of how to build a DIY pool vacuum than a video.

Thus, you now know how to make a vacuum cleaner for an Intex pool with your own hands. There is nothing complicated about this process. All you need is a desire and some free time.

We hope the material was useful to you!

The pool must always be clean, otherwise it is not possible to swim in it. Therefore, you need to use chemicals to disinfect water, the cleaning system must work, and you must help it with a vacuum cleaner. Today we will look in detail at how to clean a pool with a vacuum cleaner with your own hands.

What is an underwater vacuum cleaner

Underwater vacuum cleaner for bottom cleaning

An underwater vacuum cleaner is often a simple device for collecting debris from the bottom of a bowl, although there are models with a complex device.

Pool water most often enters the filter system through a skimmer. The problem is that the skimmer only takes the top layer of water, and the dirt at the bottom also remains untouched. In addition, the walls of the bowl are also covered with plaque and tiny particles of dirt, which also need to be gotten rid of.

Therefore, you will have to use additional methods to clean the water and bowl. And one of them is just an underwater vacuum cleaner.

Operating principle of an underwater vacuum cleaner

An underwater vacuum cleaner is a simple device and in some models even primitive, so the principle of operation does not differ much from model to model. Simply, various functions and capabilities are added to the mechanism to improve the quality of cleaning.

The most simple models They are a device consisting of a brush that collects dirt from the bottom, a telescopic handle and a hose that connects to a collecting nozzle or skimmer. When cleaning the tank with this type of vacuum cleaner, water is drawn from the bottom by the main pool pump through the brush and enters your filter. After cleaning, the water is returned to the reservoir.

Other vacuum cleaners may have their own primary filter. It makes the work of your main filter easier and ultimately results in better cleaning.

And the most expensive models have their own own system intake of water, which is powered by a built-in battery, and its filtration. Such devices are completely autonomous and do not depend in any way on other systems.

Instructions for cleaning the pool with a vacuum cleaner

First of all, it is worth describing the sequence of steps for working with the most primitive type of models. Before vacuuming your pool, you need to use a brush to remove any stuck-on dirt from the sides of the bowl. After this, you need to leave the water alone so that the debris sinks to the bottom.

At this time, you can turn off the pump and clean all filters. When working with a vacuum cleaner, a lot of stress will fall on them, so they must be clean.

After the dirt has sunk to the bottom and you have carried out all the steps described above preparatory work, you can proceed directly to cleaning.

  • Attach the cleaning attachment to the handle that you think fits best. Next, securely attach the hose to the vacuum cleaner nozzle and adjust the length of the handle. Lower the nozzle to the very bottom.
  • Now you need to completely fill the hose cavity with water. To do this, gradually immerse the hose in water, as shown in the video at the end of the article.
  • Connect the other end of the hose to the skimmer or pick-up nozzle.
  • Turn on the pump and start collecting debris from the bottom.

Cleaning must be done without sudden movements, otherwise you will disturb the water, the dirt will rise and you will have to wait for it to settle again.

If you have a model with its own filter, then the instructions are the same for you, but before work you need to check the condition of the built-in filter and, if necessary, clean it.

Self-contained handheld vacuum cleaners do not need to be connected to a pump. For them, the instructions are slightly different:

  • Clean the walls of the bowl from dirt with a brush.
  • Wait for the debris to settle. At this time, you can recharge the battery and clean the built-in filter.
  • Before starting work, turn off the pump.
  • Begin cleaning the pool with a stand-alone vacuum cleaner in accordance with the instructions supplied with the device.

Safety precautions when working with an underwater vacuum cleaner

It’s difficult to call cleaning a pool a dangerous activity, but you still need to know some rules.

  • First of all, make sure that absolutely all the air comes out of the hose. Air entering the pump is unacceptable, otherwise it may fail or cause minor damage. In any case, this does not bode well.
  • Also, before removing the vacuum cleaner brush from the water, turn off the pump. Otherwise, you cannot avoid air getting into the system.
  • Don't forget that the water in the pool should be calm. Therefore, before cleaning, warn your children that they should not swim for a while.

How often should you vacuum your pool?

It is difficult to answer this question absolutely accurately. The frequency of DIY pool maintenance directly depends on your cleaning system, the chemistry you use, the climate, the operation of the pool and other conditions.

Try cleaning your pool with a handheld vacuum cleaner once a week. Next, clean less often and see how this affects the quality of the water. This type of maintenance may need to be done even more often than once a week.

In any case, frequent pool cleaning will help you save on chemicals. Therefore, cleaning will never be unnecessary.

Cleaning your pool yourself with a vacuum cleaner: video

This video shows the process of cleaning a pool with the most common and cheap vacuum cleaner, which is connected to a pump. Pay attention to how the hose is lowered into the water. This is a very important point.

Now you know how to clean your home tank. All that remains is to apply the acquired knowledge in practice.

What is a pool vacuum cleaner? If you give up complex technical terms, then this unit is a kind of pump that distills and purifies water using a filter system. The pump unit is connected to the brush and handle with a long hose. Plaque and dirt are removed through this structure. The brush wipes the walls and bottom of the water structure with a rubber base or bristles. This debris goes into the hose along with the water. The dirt then enters the pump compartment. There the water is purified by a filter.

A professional pool vacuum cleaner is quite expensive. That is why for home use it is advisable to make a pool vacuum cleaner with your own hands. With it you can freely delete:

  • film on the walls of the structure;
  • yellowness;
  • gray spots.

Cleaning a small country pool

Proper cleaning of a small swimming pool summer cottage- an important hygiene procedure. The reservoir will not need to be processed every day, but it needs to be done systematically. Otherwise, the water container cannot be used.

The frequency depends on:

  • size of the structure;
  • its location;
  • frequency of its use.

Note! If the pool is located outside, it is cleaned every 3 days, since small and large debris gets into it.

To tidy up the bottom and sides, you have to completely empty the container. Doing it manually is very time-consuming and difficult and completely unprofitable. It would be more expedient to use special vacuum cleaners for the pool, which you can make with your own hands, based on the video attached to the article.

Using submersible devices

Another solution is to clean the container with drainage submersible pumps. Automatic, manual and semi-automatic drainage pumps are used. Drain pump- functional solution. Advantages of an automatic pump:

  • efficiency;
  • no supervision required;
  • the trajectory is set by software;
  • Several cleaning brushes remove all debris.

A handheld vacuum cleaner, including a homemade one, is a common functional and budget option. The design of a handheld vacuum cleaner consists of a brush and a rod. There are two types of models:

  1. autonomous (with pump and garbage bag);
  2. working by connecting a hose to the filter system.

All vacuum cleaners work according to the same scheme. First, the pump starts. Then the dirt is removed from the sides and bottom. Plaque and debris are drawn in instantly and then settle in the block where the filter is located.

Pay attention! This solution is ideal for frame and inflatable structures.

What types of pool vacuum cleaners are there?

There are several types of pool vacuum cleaners. The most common models:

  • bottom hand vacuum cleaner;
  • semi-automatic vacuum cleaners;
  • automatic underwater robots.

A handheld vacuum cleaner handles sediment. There is no need to drain the water and drain the structure. Ready-made models often come with vacuum kits that clean frame and inflatable water containers.
In semi-automatic vacuum cleaners, the operating speed is regulated. This hydraulic system is suitable for cleaning containers of any shape. Automatic vacuum cleaners are often called robots. Automatic vacuum cleaners absorb plaque, sediment and dirt, and tidy up the surface of the structure. The waste goes into the built-in filter. A similar pool vacuum cleaner is controlled remotely. The robotic device resembles an ordinary household unit or a children's toy.

DIY pool vacuum cleaner

Making a pool vacuum cleaner with your own hands is quite possible. It won't take much time and won't require complex materials. Once you decide to create a pool vacuum cleaner like the one in the photo above, buy everything you need at a plumbing store.

Homemade units differ in appearance and design. To create a regular cleaning device, prepare:

  • corrugated hose;
  • polypropylene pipe;
  • brush;
  • plunger;
  • set of rubber seals.

You will also need a plumbing fitting and intake nozzles. The diameter of the hose, pipe, and rubber bands for sealing depend on the size of the hose for filtered water. Do not use small corrugations. Consider the length of the pool. To use a homemade handheld vacuum cleaner yourself, use a hose 50 cm shorter than the diameter of the water container.

Working on the device

The first step is to disconnect the skimmer from the inlet valve on the filter pump. This is a water intake. Then connect the corrugated hose. Use rubber bands to strengthen the structure.
The free part of the corrugation is connected to polypropylene pipe. The sealant is reused. The edge of the structure is equipped with an intake nozzle. Use a plumbing fitting or an ordinary plunger. Slots are made in such elements. Holes are made along the entire diameter. Thanks to this, the system does not stick to the bottom of the pool.

A brush is a practical analogue of intake nozzles. Plumbing supply stores sell brushes of various shapes and sizes. The fragment is ideal for a pool vacuum cleaner, as in the photo above, as it allows you to clean hard-to-reach corners.

Note! This solution is used for structures with built-in LED backlight. The brush will clean delicately and efficiently.

If a pool vacuum cleaner is made by yourself, and a pump with a paper filter is attached to it, then it is recommended to dismantle it. The whole point is that the pump will not be able to remove the smallest sediment from the walls and bottom of the reservoir. The pool vacuum cleaner must function directly. The pumped-out sludge is used in a summer cottage to moisten the soil.

Pay attention! If you clean the container directly, replenish the water level when finished. If the diameter of the structure is about 5 meters, then add water by about 15 cm.

It is much more difficult to independently create semi-automatic vacuum cleaners for cleaning a water container (swimming pool). The main thing is to install a special valve for cleaning the filter system.
