How to burn an iron barrel from waste. How to wash diesel fuel. How to wash a plastic barrel from chemicals

If you got a barrel (or bought a barrel of fuel and lubricants on the cheap) and you want to keep it on the farm.

Usually they want to use such barrels as a container for water, but at the same time it is necessary to somehow completely clean the internal container of the iron barrel from all foreign substances.

Cleaning fuel barrels

First of all, it’s worth finding out what this “fuel and lubricant” is.

Fuel and lubricants are fuels and lubricants; a synonym for this abbreviation is the word “petroleum products”.

Fuel and lubricants include flammable products and lubricants (which are more often used in the automotive industry).

Combustibles (or, more simply, fuels) can be divided into:

  • Petrol,
  • Diesel fuel (diesel fuel);
  • Combustible gases are also classified as fuel (but they are not relevant here).

In turn, lubricants are divided into:

  • Motor oil;
  • Transmission oil;
  • Special purpose oil;
  • Grease.

Cleaning barrels from oil products

Typically, oil product barrels are cleaned by steaming and washing.

How to do this? Quite simple, but this method is quite dangerous and requires caution.

  1. Install 2 support walls from bricks, place a barrel on them (there will be a fire under the barrel).
  2. Fill the barrel with a sufficient amount of water (the water should boil for a long time).
  3. There is no need to close the plug.
  4. When the water boils, steam will accumulate in it and thanks to it, fuel oil (or other substance) will simply flow into the water.
  5. You can only cover it with a stopper (just cover it, not screw it in) after the water has boiled and is gradually cooling down.
  6. Wait until the barrel cools down.
  7. Take the cooled barrel and pour dirty water into the container.
  8. If you are not satisfied with the result, repeat the process (usually once is not enough to clean the surface thoroughly).

Now it’s worth considering substances and preparations that will help clean the barrel.

Caustic soda - which can be added to water.

UPTS-2002 is a substance that effectively washes off and degreases containers at temperatures from 30 to 50 (the temperature of water in a barrel). It also acts as a solvent for oil, lubricants and other substances.

SOFEX-TMS-2001 is a general-purpose detergent, divided into several brands, but for cleaning containers from traces of petroleum products it is better to use grade B.

Cleaning barrels of oil, gasoline and diesel fuel using improvised methods

Most often, diesel fuel and oil are cleaned with gasoline (and then the smell of gasoline is removed).

The gasoline itself is usually washed off with plenty of water.

Method 1– Fill the oil barrel with sand (you can use biscuits, sawdust) so that it absorbs the oil, then rinse with a stream of water. Then pour water and a little fairy and wash thoroughly. Rinse with water (although with the bottom method a small amount of oil remains).

Method 2– To wash oil barrels, wash them with soapy water, followed by rinsing with water; it’s a bit unsuitable for water, but just right for compost.

Method 3– In an oil barrel, cut off the top lid, and put some firewood inside (you can use branches of medium thickness). Set the branches on fire - the fire will remove all traces of oil. After this we have a hot barrel - we need to wait until it cools down.

Now we have a barrel that is clean of oil, but now we have a barrel that, without additional coating and care, will soon turn into a rusty barrel. Take a kilogram of cement and mix it with 0.5 liters of milk. Cover with the resulting mixture inner surface– leave to dry for a couple of days.

To improve the quality, you can paint the top of this mixture with water-dispersion paint, although without it you will already have a high-quality, clean water barrel.

Method 4– First they wipe it with newspapers (or rags) and then wash it with soapy water.

After such simple operations, we get a barrel that can be used on the farm to suit your needs. Well, the bonus is that you save a lot on this if you buy used barrel not new, clean

Video on how to protect a barrel from corrosion

On summer cottage or in the garage you always need a container to store water. If you have a barrel on your farm in which fuels and lubricants were previously stored, or you accidentally purchased a plastic barrel that was used for chemicals, then after proper cleaning and washing, such a container can even be used for a summer shower. So don’t rush to part with the containers, and our tips and recommendations on how to clean a barrel of machine oil and how to wash a plastic barrel of chemicals will definitely come in handy.

Cleaning containers from fuels and lubricants

How to clean and wash a canister and evaporate a barrel? Fuels and lubricants are synonymous with the word “petroleum products”. These materials include products and lubricants that are most commonly used in the automotive industry. For example, combustible materials, in other words, fuel, are divided into:

  • Petrol.
  • Diesel fuel or diesel fuel.

Lubricants are also divided into the following products:

  • Motor oil.
  • Transmission oil.
  • Grease.
  • Special purpose oil.

Based on what exactly your container is contaminated with, the methods for cleaning the barrel of machine oil will differ somewhat.

Methods for removing petroleum residues

Typically, containers where petroleum products were stored are cleaned using the following methods:

  • Steaming.
  • Flushing.

Such methods are quite dangerous and require special caution. Proceed as follows:

  1. Install support walls from bricks. There should be two of them.
  2. Place a metal barrel on the supports.
  3. Fill the tank with enough water.
  4. Build a fire under the barrel.
  5. There is no need to close the cap of the container.
  6. The water must boil for a long time so that enough steam accumulates in the barrel.
  7. The remaining oil products, thanks to the steam, will flow into the water.
  8. After the water boils and begins to cool, cover the barrel with a stopper, but do not tighten it.
  9. Leave the tank to cool.
  10. Empty the dirty water from the barrel.
  11. Repeat the whole process one more time if you are not satisfied with the result.

Aids

To make the cleaning process more effective, use the following preparations and substances:

  • Caustic soda. This product can be added to the water during steaming and washing to quickly wash a plastic barrel of chemicals.
  • UPTS-2002. The drug effectively degreases and removes residual petroleum products at a temperature of 30 to 50 degrees of water in a barrel. The product can also be used as a solvent for oil, lubricants, and other similar materials.
  • SOFEX-TMS-2001. This product is a general purpose cleaning product. It can also be used to clean containers of petroleum product residues under brand B. This detergent has several brands for different purposes and materials.

How to clean a barrel of machine oil using improvised means?

To remove residual diesel fuel or engine oil, gasoline is most often used.

Important! The smell of gasoline can be easily removed with plenty of water.

We suggest using other available devices to combat the problem of how to clean a barrel of machine oil:

  1. Dishwashing liquid. This is the simplest and effective way. Fill the barrel with hot water and then add detergent. Let the tank sit for a while and then drain the dirty water. Household chemicals can easily cope with any fat. If the result does not satisfy you, repeat the washing procedure. Rinse off any remaining product with plenty of water.
  2. Sand and sawdust. These substances will also help clean the barrel of machine oil. Place sawdust or sand in the tank to absorb the oil. Afterwards, throw away the dirty materials and clean the tank with water and dishwashing detergent. Can also be used as a cleaning device laundry soap or washing powder.

Important! To clean the container from residual oil, you can use newspapers or other paper that can absorb liquid well, instead of sand or sawdust.

  1. Sun. This method will take time, since under straight lines sun rays The barrel should last a month. During this time, the engine oil will oxidize. To not only clean the barrel of machine oil, but also remove the smell from it, rinse the tank with water and detergent.
  2. Dye. A more radical way to get rid of oil residues is to paint the inside of the barrel. Before painting, wipe the container with newspaper, any material or sawdust to absorb excess oil. You can use regular enamel for painting. When working, you can use both a paint brush and a spray gun.
  3. Solvent. Buy solvent, white spirit or kerosene at any hardware store. First, turn the barrel over so that the remaining oil drains, and then go over the surface of the container with any solvent.
  4. Acoustic soda can also help in cleaning, as it corrodes any, both organic and inorganic compounds. But you need to act with extreme caution so that the high concentration solution does not corrode the plastic.

Important! When using solvents and other household chemical products, protect yourself with protective equipment. Before work, put on rubber gloves and protect your eyes with goggles.

  1. Use active foam, which is found in car washes, to clean the barrel of machine oil, if possible.

Important! For metal barrels we suggest using effective way- firing from the inside. However, this procedure must be carried out in dry, windless weather and very carefully, since the oil is highly flammable. Proceed as follows:

  • Cut off the top lid of the barrel.
  • Place dry branches and firewood inside the tank.
  • Set fire to the branches. The fire will remove all traces of oil.
  • Cover the barrel with a metal sheet to prevent the fire from spreading further.
  • Wait until the barrel cools down.
  • Brush the surface with a stiff brush to remove any remaining dirt. As a result, you will receive a clean container, but without additional coating, over time, the barrel will become covered with rust.
  • Mix one kilogram of cement with 0.5 liters of milk.
  • Cover the inner surface of the tank with the resulting mixture.
  • Leave the barrel to dry for a couple of days.
  • If desired, paint the inside of the surface with water-dispersion paint on top of the mixture, although in this form the tank can be used on the farm.

How to clean chemicals from a plastic barrel?

After proper cleaning and washing, the plastic container can be used, for example, for a summer shower or storing water for irrigation, but for drinking water, such containers are unsuitable.

To clean a plastic barrel from chemicals and make it suitable for storing clean drinking water, you can use:

  1. Dishwashing liquid. Fill the barrel hot water and add cleaning products. For high-quality cleaning, repeat the procedure several times. Afterwards, remove the detergent product running water in large quantities.
  2. Caustic soda. This product removes all compounds, both organic and inorganic. Fill the container with hot water and add the product. After washing, rinse the container in running water.
  3. Laundry soap or washing powder. These cleaning products will also help you get rid of chemical residues.

Video material

Use our recommendations and advice and used barrels will be useful to you again on the farm. And as a bonus, you can use those unspent funds that you could use to purchase new water tanks for useful and enjoyable things for yourself. Good luck!

Most industries clean barrels by steaming and washing.

Fuel oil is a product of oil refining, which, due to its gravity, falls into sediment. In fact, it is a waste product from oil refining.

Compared to other substances formed, it is the cheapest. This is the main property due to which it was previously used as a fuel.

IN modern times Fuel oil can only be found in ancient power plants and boiler houses, and sometimes in old engines of the last century.

This type of fuel produces strong soot during combustion, has a pungent odor and has a low efficiency. Because of these qualities, they are abandoning it and switching to other energy sources such as coal and gas. With the advent of the concept of cleanliness in ecology, old enterprises using fuel oil are closed or rebuilt.

But there are still many consumers of this type of petroleum product. Fuel oil is supplied to its customers in special containers: barrels and tanks. During operation, they become dirty and lose their useful volume. As part of prevention, manufacturing companies clean containers for further circulation of goods. How to clean a barrel of fuel oil if there is more than one. This is, of course, a labor-intensive process that takes a significant amount of time in this industry.

Most industries clean barrels by steaming and washing. This is a long-term process that can be hazardous to health. But recently, more and more large firms have seen new prospects using modern chemical compositions. Unlike conventional solvents, special products for cleaning fuel oil and other petroleum products are developed on an alkaline basis with the addition of effective additives. Through trial and error, a composition was created that removes fuel oil quickly and effectively.

Use modern chemicals quite simple. It is enough to apply them to the contaminated surface, after a short period of time, rinse with water. If the plaque is large, then the procedure can be repeated. How to clean a barrel of fuel oil is up to you, but the practice of large cleaning companies shows that industrial chemicals have no competition. The advantage of modern products is their non-toxicity and high solubility in water. It may seem that such chemical compositions cost a lot of money, but in fact they are quite inexpensive.

An unpleasant odor and a persistent dark brown stain that comes off from clothes only after 5-6 washes - this is what a diesel fuel stain looks like. Car enthusiasts and mechanics know how difficult it is to deal with such contamination at home. How to wash diesel fuel?

Simple Home Remedies

Diesel stains can be removed using a variety of means. Some of them work quickly and effectively, others will require patience from you.

Washing powder. This tool is always at hand for any housewife. Add a stain remover to it - and, it would seem, you can handle any dirt. But not in the case of diesel fuel. The stain from this technical liquid can be removed with a traditional stain remover. But it gradually washes off only the third or even fifth time.

Salt. Sodium chloride copes with many contaminants. To wash diesel fuel stains with it, fill the stained area with fine salt, and after an hour, load the item into the washing machine.

Dishwashing liquid. The liquid compounds you use to wash cutlery can also handle diesel fuel. But to do this you will need to soak the item in a solution of such a product for 2-3 hours. Then try washing it as usual.

Petrol. A stain from one type of fuel can be removed with another type. The main thing is that the gasoline itself is of good purity. Soak a cloth in it and rub the stained area from the edge of the stain to the middle so that it does not form streaks. After some time, the diesel fuel will go away and the item can be washed with powder. The smell will not disappear immediately; after washing, the item will have to be hung on the balcony or outside.

Ammonia. Ammonia is a powerful stain remover available at home. To combat pollution, it is diluted with water in a ratio of 1:7.

How to wash and remove diesel fuel from the surface of clothing - the best methods

You can soak the item in this solution overnight and wash it in the morning.

The liquid compounds you use to wash cutlery can also handle diesel fuel.

Iron. If you can't dissolve the stain, you can try to melt it. Heat the iron, cover the diesel fuel stain on both sides with paper and iron the area with the iron. Change sheets until no more oil marks appear on them.

Homemade compositions

Sometimes simple remedies do not help, and whole artillery is used against pollution. At home, two main compositions are used that can be used to treat diesel fuel stains.

Baking soda, laundry soap and dishwashing detergent. Grate the soap, add to it the same amount of soda and the same amount of dishwashing detergent. Dissolve the paste with hot water, mix thoroughly, pour into a basin, and soak the soiled item in it. After a couple of hours, the stain will dissolve and it can be washed from clothes with regular powder.

Lemon juice and sunflower oil. Mix 50 ml of fresh lemon juice with 20 ml sunflower oil. Apply the composition to a cotton pad and scrub the stain, cleaning it from the edges to the center. Continue until the stain disappears.

Odor removal

When the visible part of the diesel fuel stain disappears from the surface of the clothing, you will be haunted by a specific smell for some time. To get rid of it, soak the item in kerosene, acetone or highly purified gasoline, and then wash and air it. The obvious disadvantage of this method is that while the item is soaking, the room will smell of all technical liquids.

If you are not a fan of aggressive methods, use mint toothpaste. You will need to rub the contaminated area with it, and then leave the item in a solution of dishwashing detergent for several hours. Another way is to wash the clothes with powder and conditioner.

If you have time, just leave the item on the balcony for a few days. During this time, the smell of diesel fuel will completely disappear.

It is not always possible to remove diesel fuel stains at home using simple means. After all, they often resort to washing when the stain is already old and ingrained into the fabric, or when other contaminants have been added to it. And then simple ways are no longer valid. How then can you remove diesel stains from clothes? You can use industrial stain removers, for example, paste to clean the hands of a motorist. It is applied thickly to the stain and the item is simply thrown into the drum of the washing machine.

Whatever method you choose, when treating stains you need to adhere to general rules. Always clean stains from the periphery to the center - this method does not leave streaks. Always treat the fabric from the inside out, or better yet, test the product on an inconspicuous area to see if it causes the fabric to fade. After treating the stain, clothing should not be soaked by hand - wash it in a machine immediately.

In the lives of some people, diesel stains are an unpleasant surprise. And in this case, you can get rid of them using home remedies. For others, such incidents are a regular occurrence, and then it’s worth purchasing a special stain remover like a hand cleaning paste. Be that as it may, diesel stains can be easily dealt with. You just need to detect and clean them up in time.

1. I cut off the top with a grinder (while the barrel was supposed to be under water).
2. I rinsed with a couple of liters of gasoline (the gasoline and oil were then poured into a canister, it was useful to light the garbage)
3. I overturned it and let the residue drip off (it turned out that it sat with me for a week while I came to the garden on weekends).
3. I installed it normally and used a hose, after splashing italmas, rinsed it, and gurgled it on the walls. I drained it, rinsed it with clean water and turned it over again.
4. When I was already filling the barrel with water, at first a weak film was still visible on the top, so I filled the water so that it would drain over the edge. And over time, the film disappeared.

View full version: How to properly remove vapors from a used tank?

The point is this: we have a tank, we need to digest the neck, how to get rid of gasoline vapors so that it doesn’t blow? I know that it is necessary to drive it with exhaust gases, but how long to drive them there, I let the gases into the tank for 20 minutes but did not dare to cook it again.
Do not suggest pouring water, with 55 liters of water the tank jumps half a meter when the vapors ignite, tested :)

Be careful.

I DON’T BELIEVE about exhaust fumes.

It is not evaporated by exhaust gases, but filled. And believe it or not, leave it for young girls, let them guess. But here the question is technical and, before you say anything, you need to know the topic thoroughly.

I think rinse with acetone or alcohol first. Gasoline dissolves well in alcohol and acetone. And then rinse well with water. Because alcohol and acetone are unlimitedly soluble in water.

At the base we cooked the fill under the neck with HOT water. It didn’t seem to be booming...

Steaming from the word “steam” is what they need to do. The most reliable and safe method. Ideally, of course, from a steam line, but you can also try with a household steam generator.

is there carbon dioxide? just need to wash it anyway... a friend of mine cooked it like this...
There is carbon dioxide, what to do with it? run into the tank?

Exhaust for 10 minutes and cook with whatever you want, just don’t remove the exhaust, let it blow. I cooked the tanks with gasoline with gas without removing them from the car.
I'll probably try that.

Thanks for the advice, here's what else I dug up:

When welding a container from the outside, it is quite effective to fill the container with exhaust gases from carburetor engines, which do not have a sufficient amount of oxygen for combustion. To completely displace air from a container with a capacity of up to 300 liters it takes 4 minutes, 350 - 500 liters - 6 minutes, 500 - 700 liters - 9 minutes, and for every 1000 liters - 12 - 15 minutes. During welding, gas is supplied to the container being brewed continuously while the engine is running at low speeds. Gases are vented into the atmosphere through the car's exhaust pipe, the fuel tank drain hole, the filler neck, etc.

Well, finally - I came to the truth. :)

Boiling a gas tank is a dangerous business. I usually fill it with water as much as possible and it’s scary. I DON’T BELIEVE about fumes from exhaust gases; before my eyes, a man lost his foot and hand while trying to weld a hole in a gas tank. He evaporated it for a long time and washed it with soap and water.
Be careful.

Nevermind! Can you be more specific? Actually, I’ve soldered the current tank several times so far, but I’m a welder myself, and you never know when I’ll have to... How did it work out and how did you evaporate and cook?

28.07.2011, 18:18

fuck it, buy a TANK and at least scald yourself.....

Once I decided to autogenously weld a Volga tank that had been lying in the garage for 10 years without a plug and with the intake and sensor removed. I decided that there was no longer any gasoline vapor in it. Didn't fill it in with anything. The tank exploded and became 5 liters more.;)
So, it looks like it's definitely useless to wash it.

We also cooked a 20 liter canister that was lying around without a lid for 8 years or even more.... In short, it jumped half a meter, and we went with it: D.

Wow! I brought home an old huge gas tank from a truck, I wanted to make a shower tank out of it. He poured a glass of water into it and put it on the fire. Then several more. splashed once. Nothing exploded even once, but it was impossible to evaporate the stench, so I had to throw it away...

29.07.2011, 13:21

And if the canister/tank is completely filled with water, will it explode during welding?
It is not the byanzin itself that explodes, but its vapors mixed with air. In strictly limited proportions. On your car, the fuel level sensor in the gas tank is ohmic - the slider runs along a resistive wire, don’t go to the headstock, it sparks... but the point is not that the spark energy is low - there is too much gasoline vapor in relation to oxygen. In winter, when it’s really cold, pour some gasoline into a kilika can and throw the bulls in there... it won’t burn. Try it now - it will flare up in a moment.
fill it with backgas, completely displace the air (and oxygen!!!) - and nothing will explode...
Another thing around is that the metal of the gas tank itself is impregnated with gasoline. On tankers, about a cubic centimeter per square meter per week seeps through the walls of the tanks (if they are transporting gasoline)...

29.07.2011, 13:29

The best option has already been said - carbon dioxide. If you cook large holes, you can use exhaust gases. So that their volume is constantly replenished. On small ones, you “inflated” the tank with carbon dioxide from a cylinder, left a small flow through the reducer to make up for losses, and at least brew it.

I once saw a shaman cooking a tank from Ikarus, so he completely filled it with solarium, set it on fire and cooked... I screwed it away just in case: rolleyes:

Wise! One thing I can say for sure: if you need to weld a lock to the neck, then filling it with water to the middle will solve all the problems without any flushing. Everything else, with the exception of welding the neck itself, is done by soldering and trying to cook something there is severe masturbation.

And everything is soldered “at once” with a non-electric copper soldering iron of the “axe” type, heated to the side on a burner. Current with zinc chloride. Everything is done simply, without removing the tank, even “on the ceiling”.

Another fun way to cook any gas container: pour water into it and stick the boiler on a long wire. When the steam begins to rise, you can approach and cook without fear.

In our PAZ 5-7 years ago, men were cooking a tank on a KamAZ truck with it completely filled. The result was disastrous. the welder died, the Kamaz burned down, the others who were nearby all suffered severe burns

31.07.2011, 16:37

The question is this: are you going to cook the tank on the car or removed it? We boiled the removed tank after washing it (filled it with detergent and poured boiling water under the neck, it just won’t wash off with water).

31.07.2011, 16:51

It's better not to risk it, it will knock out your eyes or what else? if the tank was rotten, then a hole will appear somewhere else at the most inopportune moment.

31.07.2011, 21:17

I read this topic and realized that it’s better to save yourself than to cook a tank, understand why. So you better take care of your body parts, guys.

Hello everyone, kind of a report :)
The sequence was as follows: I filled an almost full tank of water (so that I wouldn’t fly far :)) or maybe to calm myself down, I started the car and put a large hose from the muffler into the tank, walked for about 10 minutes, cooked without turning off the car so that gases circulated through the tank, first I plugged it up all the holes then, when the tank was filled with gases, I opened a hole for drainage to a new place for the neck and welded it, the tank was naturally removed from the car, something like this :)

How to clean the booth?

Everything is simple for me, I removed the tank and blew it out with a compressor, probably for about 20 minutes. Then I decided that the air was not circulating well, then put a gun from the compressor into the filler neck, a vacuum cleaner into the hole from the sensor, and another 30 minutes. I called the welder, he said: shove the torch into the neck, if it doesn’t explode, I’ll take it to cook!…. Well, he took it and brewed it.

The other day I had to boil the UAZ tank (the drain plug was pulled out and the cap was clogged). There were three liters of gasoline left in the tank. I drained the gasoline, unscrewed the sensor and intake, the filler plug, and threw it outside in the sun for three days (fortunately time allows), then, just to be sure, I blew it for half an hour with a hair dryer. I brewed it and everything was fine. It was possible to fill it with carbon dioxide, I cooked it semi-automatically, but this is only if you really need it very quickly: D

How to clean a barrel of machine oil

How to clean a machine oil barrel

If you have a barrel in which engine oil was previously stored, but at the moment you urgently need to wash it, a few tips for effectively removing residual petroleum products will definitely be useful to you:

The simplest and effective method– dishwashing detergent. It is necessary to pour hot water into the barrel and add the product, let it stand for a while. If necessary, repeat the procedure. As you know, these household chemicals cope well with grease.

The second effective way is to roast the barrel from the inside. This method is applicable for metal barrels. This is done something like this: we take dry tree branches, put them on the bottom of the barrel and set them on fire. After the branches burn and the barrel has cooled, you will need to go over it with a brush. You need to burn it quite carefully, because oil is known to be highly flammable. It is advisable to do this procedure in dry, windless weather; cover the fire with a metal sheet or lid, if possible.

Sand and sawdust will also help clean the barrel of engine oil. You need to pour sand or sawdust into a barrel for a day - they will absorb the oil. Then clean the barrel with water and dishwashing detergent. You can also use washing powder or laundry soap.

A more radical method is to paint the inside of the barrel, and you can use a paint brush or spray gun. Regular enamel is suitable for painting. But before starting painting, it is advisable to wipe the barrel with newspapers, cloth or cover it with sawdust in order to absorb excess oil residues.

Turn the barrel over and let the oil drain. Use solvent, kerosene or white spirit. These products can be found at any hardware store. Caustic soda may also help. This highly alkaline product is designed to corrode any organic and inorganic compounds.

When using these products, be sure to wear rubber gloves and also protect your eyes, as contact with skin may cause burns.

A method that will take a lot of time is to leave the barrel in the sun, or rather in direct sunlight, for about one month. The engine oil should oxidize. After which the barrel will still need to be washed with water and any detergent.

One of the above methods should definitely help to wash the barrel of machine oil. As an additional option, we can suggest using active foam, which is found in car washes.

How can you clean a barrel of machine oil?

How can you clean a barrel of machine oil?

In principle, it is possible to clean a barrel of machine oil, and for this I can advise you several methods that can be used separately, as well as combined if the full result is not obtained:

    1) The product you use to wash dishes:

    2) Carrying out firing of the barrel:

    3) Use of sawdust and sand:

    4) Painting:

    5) Using solvent, kerosene or white spirit for cleaning:

I use two cans of machine oil to water my indoor flowers. Of course not barrels, but I think the difference is not great and not fundamental.

First I washed it with diesel fuel. Then with caustic, as the Hungarian writes. There wasn't enough caustic for the second canister, so I used table soda. How did you wash? First I stirred the baking soda into hot water, poured it into the canister not to the top and put it in the official Sable. It moved there beautifully, I even forgot about the first one, they reminded me only on the third day, isn’t it time to pick it up? Then use liquid soap a couple of times, leaving it overnight. Well, that's it.

Not only flowers drink this water, I tried it myself. I washed twenty-liter mash bottles in about the same way (only without using a car). This was a long time ago, I was still working at a factory then, and in the electroplating industry there were good bottles for some terribly harmful chemicals, with convenient plastic baskets with handles. It was a sin to pass by, in night shift carefully transported him over the fence, changed hands and took him out.

I also have a lot of laboratory glassware at home, all kinds of glass, with ground stoppers. The laboratory was disbanded, and the former boss gave it to me out of friendship.

Well, basically, the scheme is this: solvent soda soap. The rest is details and nuances.

You can wash it first with gasoline, then with solvent, then with hot water and caustic soda.

Just be careful not to smell any gasoline or solvent, otherwise you will end up in the toxicology department at your local hospital.

If the barrel is opened, pour dry river sand into it to cover the bottom with a layer in the palm of your hand.

Sprinkle the oily walls of the barrel with sand as well.

Leave for a couple of hours. Sweep sand from the walls to the bottom.

Stir the sand at the bottom so that the oil-soaked sand at the bottom mixes with the dry part.

Dump it out of the barrel.

How to wash diesel fuel at home

Crumple the pages from hand to hand. Pour lightly with gasoline or alcohol.

Light a fire in the barrel. There will be no oil left there - it will burn out.

You can burn it all out. But the fire will be hot.

I annealed all my barrels at the dacha and then cleaned and painted them. Transmission oil barrels for BelAZ vehicles. Barrels are now thin-walled, unlike before, they burn quickly. The main thing is to bake it well in the seams at the ends of the barrel, but in these places you can also use a blowtorch.

Garden-Vegetable Garden Karina: I want to plant cucumbers in 200 liter barrels. They offered barrels of machine oil. I can’t understand if it’s possible to wash these barrels. They offered barrels of machine oil. I can’t understand if it’s possible to wash these barrels. Has anyone encountered this? Clara:

where do you live? you can wash with Bright 700, Bright 500 and Orange - this is for washing vehicles, removing grease, oils, petroleum products, or type professional chemistry in a search engine, it washes everything, then you can wash the car, if any)

Vyacheslav:

why wash? if you use cucumbers as a pickle, you will achieve greater effect

Gregory:

Steam under pressure or burn out.

it is possible to wash, but the process is tedious and lengthy... it’s easier to fill the barrels with sawdust or sand and let them stand for a couple of days...

I agree with everyone who says to burn it out, that’s the only way, because nothing else will help, I have 2 such barrels in my garden waste water. After firing inside, you won’t even think that there was anything technical there. But it’s best to entrust this to a man, in the sense of burning out the barrels.

The best thing is to burn it out, just be careful, because... the fire is very strong, it is better in calm weather and cover it if possible metal lid or leaf. Good luck!

It’s better to burn it only carefully, the oil will burn off and there will be no smell left

Steam or ferry. You can then line it with large bags of black film, like garbage bags sold in large capacities.

Then take a photo of the plants with the harvest, we’ll admire it. You have a good idea!
