An important step in installing a sink is protecting the countertop from moisture. It is often recommended to seal the end of the countertop and additionally apply sealant between the sink and the countertop. This is not always justified for two reasons. Firstly, if you ensure the tightness of the connection between the sink and the countertop, which is not difficult to do, then moisture will never get to the unprotected end of the countertop. Secondly, most countertops are made of moisture-proof boards and are perfectly resistant to water.
Considering the above, it is advisable to treat only the junction of the countertop and sink. In order to make the connection airtight, you need to place the sink on the countertop and seal the gap between the sink and the countertop with sealant. Then secure the sink using the countertop fasteners. After the sink fasteners are tightened and the sink is pressed tightly against the countertop, excess silicone sealant should release from underneath it. You shouldn’t remove it right away, because... it can simply be smeared on the sink and countertop, and removing it later will be problematic. You should wait until it hardens and cut off the excess with a sharp knife.
The fasteners must be tightened in a certain way. If you still have the packaging from the car wash, the tightening order diagram is there. If there is no diagram, then tightening must be done diagonally.
